Hi Tarria!
Since it’s the end of the month, this challenge will be finishing soon, so sign ups are technically closed
It is totally my fault because I forgot to change the title, but you can join for the last few days if you’d like?
We’re also going to have a February challenge next month, details will be coming soon, and you can join that when sign ups open!
Again, sorry for any confusion 😔

Ok
Do you want to carry on with January then?

Our first challenge starts at the beginning of 2022 and we can't wait!
So this is a pretty basic A-Z challenge but the fun is all in the bonus points as you'll see later.
Rules are pretty simple:
You sign up on this thread, with your Goodreads ID and preferred name (what we can call you by)
We'll make you a thread and as the month goes on, you add books that you've read to it and get points for them. But, the catch is that, for every book, either the first letter of the title (excluding A, An, The, etc), the author's first name or the author's last name have to start with a letter of the alphabet. Well, duh, is what you're all thinking. No, my friends, you see, you can't reuse a letter. So if for example, you use:
C- The Cruel Prince
the letter C is now completed, you can't use another book for it!
I know, it's rather evil.
Ok, so, you've finished a book, now you have to add up how many points you get for it. For reference, see the points system below.
The Points
For page numbers, it's pretty straightforward:
1-100: 5 points (we don't want to discriminate those really good but very short books)
101-200: 10 points
201-300: 20 points
301-400: 30 points
401-500: 40 points
500-600: 50 points
And so on...
Then, my favourite part, the bonus points!
If you write a review you get 10 points for your hard work. (PS. You'll have to link the review!)
If you read the book in a buddy read in this group, you get 20 points for putting up with other people while reading. (I AM JOKING)
If you read our BOTM, you get 10 points, with an extra 5 available if you contribute to the discussion, which is basically us being that teacher that pushes all you awkward kids together to TALK.
And finally, because we realise we are a Muslim group, if you read any books that have a thread in the group, or books by authors that are mentioned, you get another 10 points!
Now, you've figured out how many points you've got, you need to tell us!
So on your thread you'll need to log books. Like so:
Book name:
Pages:
Letter completed:
Review:
BOTM:
Other bonuses:
Total points:
So if I do y'all an example:
Book: The Cruel Prince
Pages: 370 (+30)
Letter completed: C
Review: (imaginary link) (+10)
BOTM: N/A
Other bonuses: Buddy read: (another imaginary link) (+20)
Total points: 60
And I am very sorry, but you have to do this twice, in the universal log too, so it's easier for us to keep track of everyone's points. If you don't log a book in the universal log, we can't guarantee we'll count it!
Ok, now I'm sorry for being so explanatory but I just wanna make sure y'all understand. Of course, you can just pop any questions in the thread below when you sign up.
And, if you've stuck around for all my comedic relief, I really hope y'all sign up and enjoy the challenge!
