I read this on my kindle a couple years ago probably in 2019. It was the first of a long series. It starts with the boy and his father going to a festival or market day to sell their crops. He enters a race of sorts and I think he wins or almost wins. I don't remember why, but he, his father and a couple other people need to leave on a journey. They travel through a forrest and one of the characters can talk to animals. There's a scene where the boy walks in on the person and he scares the wolf and other creatures away. Eventually they reach a castle and they spend time there with the royalty living in it and the people who live in the village below. They might be elves or a humanoid creature of the world they live in but I'm not sure. I remember on scene where the main character in in the training ground with a bunch of younger kids. He was being chastised because he wasn't skilled with a sword but then he surprises them all when he hits the bullseye of the target with his knife. I remember that they continue on with their journey and they go to a village where they meet the dragon for the first time. This was near the end of the book. Every couple of chapters it cuts to a parallel story with a girl who lives with a family of dragons. And every day she performs a ceremony where she puts her blood and some other things in a bowl, drinks it and then has visions, which are often of the main character and his journey. At the end, the group starts heading towards where the seer girl and the dragons are. I feel like the title started with an A. And I got the impression that it was an older book.
