The Piper's Pursuit was really good. I really enjoyed it considering I didn't know the tale existed before I was about to read the retelling and searched it up. So glad you made a topic for it!

He did a companion novel to the series called Peter & Max about the history of the Piper family and it was delightful! I haven't read it in years, but I have a fondness in my chest when I think about it.
I'll come back for more!

The Peddler's Road by Matthew Cody -both are middle-grade adaptations with really high review ratings!
The Pied Piper of Hamelin by Russell Brand is an irreverent middle-grade retelling illustrated by Chris Liddell!
Breath by Donna Jo Napoli looks like a completely historical adaptation-plague and all.
A Piper's Song: The Pied Piper Tales by C.K. Johnson is a YA outing about the Piper's descendant.
Frequency by Christopher Krovatin is a modern-day YA adaptation. Looks interesting...
Silent Melody: A Pied Piper Retelling by Alice Ivinya a historical retelling (maybe some magic??) set in Germany.
I'm honestly having trouble finding fairy-tale-esque adult versions?? Haha!

Those are great, thank you! The last one especially looks interesting.
@Nerdy Werewolf You always awe me with how you manage to find so many retellings. I was like oh look I know one haha. And you straight up went, “Hold my book.” Lol
I’m so happy to have so many to sort through. I don’t read many comic books, but I do read WEBTOONS and am following Lore of Olympus which is a great retelling so far. I can’t wait to look at all the books you listed. Thank you!

Agreed! I was hoping to find more like that, but I guess it's another one we're waiting on authors to notice. :D

Yeah I went through the list and Silent Melody really caught my eye. I also found Breath really interesting. Thank you for all the great recommendations yet again. :)

That would be really interesting, seeing the mice's perspectives. Thanks for the rec!
If you want to add the book cover, you can go to the comment box and above it on the top right corner is the add book/author. Click that and search up the book. At the bottom of the popup box, there's a place to select link or cover. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

The only retelling I know of (so far, y'all are super good at finding more), is The Piper's Pursuit. An absolutely fantastic book, and one of my favourite Melanie Dickerson books of all time. :)
Apparently, the original is a Medieval legend from the town of Hamelin, Germany. There are many versions of it from authors including: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the Grimm brothers, and Robert Browning.
Put any retellings you know of for the Pied Piper here! And if you've read any that are particularly amazing and want to discuss it, let me know and I'll create a separate topic for you.
