SA Book & Challenge Lovers discussion

This challenge is a perpetual challenge. You may start any of the options at any time and finish it on your own time.

The goal is to find connections between different books related to authors, characters, covers etc.

This is a Goldilocks challenge with 3 versions. A 25 book one, a 15 book one and a 10 book one. You may do all or any of these. If you choose to do more than one version, you may not reuse books between the various versions, Therefore if you want to do all 3 versions, you will need to read 50 different books in total.

You may use books you read for other challenges. Any format is acceptable - paper, audio and ebooks.

Total books to be read will be determined by your choice below. You may not use the same book twice.

Please remember that only books with 120 pages or more counts.

The Papa Bear
1) Read any book you like.
2) The author of book 2 should have the same name as the main character in Book 1.
3) Book 3 should be set in the same location/city/state/country as book 2.
4) The author of Book 4 must be born in the same decade as the author of book 3.
5) The main character of book 5 should have a similar profession as the main character in the book 4.
6) The main character in book 6 must have the same hair colour as the main character in the book 5.
7) One of the words in the title of book 7 must be the same as one of the words in the title of book 6.
8) The cover of book 8 must be the same predominant colour as the cover of book 7.
9) Book 9 must have been nominated for or won the same award as book 8 (remember this will take advanced planning because book 8 will have to be a specific colour and an award winner or nominee)
10) Book 10 must have been published in the same year as book 9
11) Book 11 must be the same genre as book 10
12) The title of book 12 must start with the same letter as the title of book 11
13) The main character's name in book 13 must be the same as a minor character's in book 12
14) Some pictorial element on the cover of book 14 must be the same as the picture on the cover of book 13
15) If book 14 is part of a series, book 15 must be part of a series. If book 14 is a standalone, book 15 must be a standalone.
16) The main character in book 16 must be in the same age group as the main character in book 15 e.g. Teens, 20’s 30’s

The Mama Bear
1) Read any book you like.

I need 4 for Mama Bear and 11 for Papa Bear, so 2 halfway done! I haven't looked at Baby Bear yet.

I have just started identifying books for the parent bears, and is able to get out of the blocks in both, but then I am temporarily stuck. Thank goodness there is also next year for this one.

I've tidied up, so that is Baby Bear done. Still the same number needed for the other 2. I've got two damn Booker Prize winners in Papa Bear which will only happen next year.

Great stuff Carolien, I am toying with Pulitzer Prize winners in Pappa Bear, but after that the porridge is still too hot.
