Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments I don't know that it's a good idea to set a goal since there is such a variety from which to choose. Maybe I'll just keep track as I go & see where I end up.

1. Poems by Currer Bell (Charlotte Bronte)
My favorite of her poems - Mementos
I'm not going to list the rest by name. They wrote several each.
2. Poems by Ellis Bell (Emily Bronte) - reading now

That's a darn good plan, Martha.

Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments Thanks, Bill & Emily.

I know I have poetry by Poe & possibly some by the Brontes. I’ll start there.

Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments Reading poems by Currer Bell (Charlotte Brontë). I liked Momentos better than Pilate’s Wife’s Dream, but found both good.

I'm glad you're enjoying so far. It's always a challenge for me when I try to read poetry... But it's worth keeping trying, eh?

Yes, it is. My Josh loved poetry so I do try to read some occasionally.

Ellen (elliearcher) I like the idea of not setting a goal and just keeping track--I wish I'd thought of that. I have too many goals and challenges this year! Talk about setting oneself up for failure.

I'm glad you're enjoying yourself. I love Bronte's prose but I've never tried her poetry. I've read some of her sister Emily's but found it too ornate & heavy. I feel inspired by you to sample some, probably Momentos. Thanks for sharing your response.

Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments It is more ornate than I like. Momentos just touched me … descriptions of an empty house, death of a loved one, an abandoned daughter, etc. I just read it again & was tearing up. This is a hard month. Josh’s birthday is coming up. His house is still empty. The man who bought it to flip must have run out of money. Josh has been gone almost 6 years. I need to stop thinking about it. I’m sitting in Walmart parking lot waiting on Bradley to finish shopping. 😄 Had to take Tutu to the vet & I don’t like leaving him in the car. So I’ll grab my few things while he waits with Tutu.

I need to check out what you are reading in this genre.
