Ioana | 2122 comments I did not know where to post this, so if there is a better place for it, mods, please move it.

GR has a way to mark who recommended a book to you, it's in the review section. But, is there a way to find out, filter the books you have based on those recommendations? For example, I have books marked as "recommended by Bill", but unless I go into the review section of those books, how do I find on my TBR "books recommended by Bill"? Thanks.

If you go to "MY BOOKS" and click on "settings" at the top, one of the choices is "recommender" -- if you click that it will add that column to your list and you can see who recommended it. I *assume* you can also sort by that column.

Ioana | 2122 comments Got it, thanks. Yes, you can sort that column.

I haven't recommended books for years. I used to way back when, but I stopped doing it. I wonder if they are old recommendations or if the system somehow does it automatically?

I must've meant a different Bill. Of course you don't recommend books, you just tell us how wonderful they are...

I recommend them to my niece all the time and she actually reads my recommendations. Promptly, if you can believe it.

Must be wonderful. Sadly, nobody in my (very, very small family) reads but I get my recommendations from my huge GR family. 🤗

John My mother and cousin are big readers, so appreciate my suggestions.

Lol! That’s the way to do it.

Carolien (carolien_s) | 505 comments I'm tidying books and I have just put together a packet with 10 book which my mother handed me and which I am not going to read. Our taste in books a decade ago was very similar, then I joined Goodreads and now we have very little in common sadly.

I hate people who do that, I can only think of 2 books I've been bought as presents that have been my taste, the rest have gone to charity shops.

Agreed! Reading a book that was gifted is one of this year's Motley Challenge tasks. I struggle with it because I dislike receiving books from people as gifts (unless I specifically asked for it). Fortunately, I received one at work recently (a "gift" that we have to read - haha!).
