I can see that. I know I will due to my added challenge of horror or sci-fi reads only. Mmm

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments Checking off Massachusetts with We Ride Upon Sticks by Quan Barry. The Danvers, MA setting was primary to the set up for this story, as the members of the high school field hockey use their town's witch trials history to help them have a winning season.

message 9: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments Adding North Carolina with The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews. Great little story that reads like a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Tennessee Run Rose Run
Wisconsin Bewilderment

Slowly making my way through the states.

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments Touring on through Idaho with My Heart Is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones. I don't love the gore but I love the way this author combines great writing with classic horror.

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments So here at the beginning of what appears to be my fourth year on this challenge, I'm just going to post a reminder for the states I have left. Hopefully I can get around to all of these in 2025. Challenges like this would be much easier if I could count Jupiter or Narnia.

4. Arkansas
8. Delaware
16. Kansas
18. Louisiana
24. Mississippi
36. Oklahoma
39. Rhode Island
41. South Dakota
44. Utah
48. West Virginia

message 32: by Lea (new)

Lea (leaspot) | 3635 comments I agree! I read way too many fantasy books in galaxies far, far away!

message 33: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments Visited West Virginia with The Lost Story

message 34: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments I almost let Rhode Island slip by me - The Wedding People

Lea (leaspot) | 3635 comments Michelle wrote: "I almost let Rhode Island slip by me - The Wedding People"

Yes! That was a book I planned to read before I realized that it qualified for my challenge!

message 36: by Michelle (last edited Aug 13, 2025 09:40AM) (new)

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments I'm going to count The 10: A Memoir of Family and the Open Road for Louisianna since the author spends a little time there on her road trip.

Yes, I'm grasping at straws here.

message 37: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments Also adding James for Mississippi. I think this might be stretching it (did James and Huck really get as far as Mississippi?) but Goodreads shows it as Mississippi so I'm going to count it.

message 38: by Michelle (last edited Aug 13, 2025 09:54AM) (new)

Michelle (marcher08) | 1705 comments That only leaves:

Arkansas
Delaware
Kansas
Maryland
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Utah

Doable in 2025?? Maybe.

message 39: by Lea (last edited Aug 13, 2025 04:03PM) (new)

Lea (leaspot) | 3635 comments You're doing great, I bet you can finish next year. Especially since you finished some of the difficult states already.

I'd absolutely also count James for Mississippi since GR shows it!!
( but I also agree with you, I really only remember Missouri. )
