Bethany Delleman | 109 comments Find out, in my new crossover romance, where Caroline Bingley goes to Bath to find a husband and meets Sir Walter Elliot (Persuasion), Tom Bertram (Mansfield Park), and Frederick Tilney (Northanger Abbey). Will Elizabeth Elliot and Nancy Steele (S&S) ruin her plans or will Caroline find her happy ending? Does she really deserve one?

Well Caroline is the heroine, but she gets what she deserves ;) I totally agree about Elizabeth Elliot, she's kind of the worst!

I have some sympathy for Caroline Bingley, did she know that Jane loved Bingley or was she trying to save her brother from a fortune hunter? Here is my take on it: https://bethanydellemanwriter.com/sho...

Christine Indorf | 15 comments I know Jane Austen didn't write this but I love what they did with Caroline in the Other Bennet Sister. She ran off with a man she didn't marry. I could see her doing something like that and she was jealous of Mary which she is jealous of everyone. I would like to think she would do something out of character!

I'm sorry, I found the portrayal of Caroline Bingley in that book to be very flat and a misunderstanding of her character. Caroline isn't just mean for fun, she had absolutely no motive to be cruel to recently displaced Mary for example. In P&P, Caroline is almost never rude to anyone to their face, she gossips behind their backs (with full participations from Darcy I might add).

The Ryder character doesn't seem to have money or status, he's just someone Lady Catherine likes for some reason? It's very unclear. I don't think Caroline would even marry Ryder, much less run off to be his mistress and end up with a baby in Paris! She has clear motivations in P&P, marry and marry well.

I don't really feel like The Other Bennet sister did justice to Jane Austen's Caroline. I might stand alone in my opinion.

Mrs Benyishai | 270 comments AS i wrote elsewhere I have caroline living with Elizabeth Elliot under the Chaperonship of Mrs Norris . I have Maria Bertram marry C TIleny who doest care about her past but draws the line at hosting Aunt Norris. For a bit of flavour those two can become misstresses of Wickham (who we are told enjoys himself in Bath) and Henry crawford whom I wont marry off to anyone(Mrs Norris doesnt see under her nose and wont notice )

Beth-In-UK | 1195 comments I wonder, if Mrs Clay doesn't succeed in getting William Eliot to marry her (it is left humorously ambiguous at the end of Persuasion), whether Caroline Bingley might succeed with him? She'll be friendly with Elizabeth Eliot, as said, but she is also good looking, wealthy enough, stylish and a la mode. She's also, however unpleasant her character, well educated and accomplished (remember that long list she outlines to Darcy and Lizzie at Netherfield). She is also connected to the Darcy's of Pemberley. I could see William Elliot deciding she was suitable.

Neither she nor William Elliot are nice people, so that factor wouldn't bother either of them!

Mr. Elliot is described as "hollow and black" which is the worst language that Jane Austen uses for any character. Caroline on the other hand sneers but actually warns her rival that Wickham is bad news. We really see the worst side of Caroline in P&P, we don't see her in her element.

Beth-In-UK | 1195 comments OK, so maybe Caroline doesn't deserve Mr Eliot quite....!

It's one of Austen's masterly twists, isn't it, that Caroline warns Lizzie, who is still so 'prejudiced' that she refutes the warning as she doesn't like Caroline. Bad call Lizzie!

It's amazing! Elizabeth completely believes Wickham because he's hot and nice to her, she discounts Darcy and Caroline because they are snobby and mean. But Caroline was telling the truth! And if Elizabeth had taken a moment to question Caroline's motives she would have realize that Caro had more to gain by Elizabeth continuing to like Wickham...

Beth-In-UK | 1195 comments Yes, Caroline could have stood back, and let Lizzie be 'dazzled' by Wickam, leaving Caroline to focus on Darcy.

Beth-In-UK | 1195 comments I've always thought Darcy's Big Mistake was to have let Lizzie overhear him tell Bingley, at the first Assembly Ball, that Lizzie 'was not handsome enough to tempt him' to dance.

A woman scorned!!!! Oh boy, Mr D, you are going to regret that insult big time!!!!
