I liked the first book from Erdrich for children or rather Middle Graders, so I read this Birchbark series further, and the second one was also good. The description showed partly a normal childhood, partly difficult events like hunger (in the first book) or here the encounter with the white people and the often hard effects this produces. Will continue next month with the next in the series.
