What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I never read this book, I just saw a preview of a few chapters in the back of another book a few years ago (don't remember which) so I don't remember too much. The scene I remember most distinctly is a mass shooting at an airport, I believe it was in a flashback but I'm not sure, there were a few attackers and the protagonist survived when the 911 operator told her to pretend she was already dead? I think the protagonist was a teen and she may have some issues with her parents as she was in the airport alone. In the present day, there was a protagonist (I don't know if it was the same person) who was also a teen and had written a book. There was a character with some sort of psychic powers, maybe seeing ghosts, but I don't remember if this was the protagonist or the protagonist of the book she wrote. Sorry this isn't much to go on, if anyone has any clue what book this is that would be amazing.
