Thanks, Sheila and Kirk!Sheila, now that my surgical sites are healed, I'm meeting my oncologist this week. She'll set up the parameters for my radiation treatments (and hopefully confirm that I don't need chemo based on her expertise). So my medical experience with this continues! Lots less stressful now, though.
I do continue to pray for you. I continue to have some bleeding issues for over a year and no doctor can give me a diagnosis. I underwent a number of tests. I believe it is caused by my leukemia medication and that is one of the side effects listed but no doctor has looked at that.

I knew you had some ongoing medical issues and have kept you in my own prayers but didn't know about the bleeding.
...or maybe you did tell me and I forgot. My memory ain't what it used to be, and it seems most of my friends have some illness or condition they're dealing with - it's hard to keep track anymore!

This is a debut JAFF author, and I'm hoping potential readers don't overlook this book because it doesn't feature any traditional JAFF heroes or heroines. Instead, it puts together secondary characters from several JA stories. Very clever!

31. Mr. Darcy Goes to Brighton: A Pride and Prejudice Variation Novella by Bella Breen - 3 stars
Pretty much the same "meh" quality as most of this author's books. The premise sounded promising, but it wasn't anything special.
32. Changeling Child: A Jane Austen Fantasy Variation by Natasja Rose - 4 stars
Very interesting, generally well-written variation of Pride and Prejudice as told from Mary's point of view. Mary herself is a Changeling, a fairy child exchanged in the Bennet cradle at birth. I wanted to love it and mostly did, but there were gaps in the fantasy universe the author never adequately fills in for the reader.
33. Mr. Darcy's Regrets: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by CJ Matteo - 4 stars
Another debut JAFF author and another book I wanted to love more than I did. Why is Bingley so different from his sisters? Why doesn't Darcy's family object to their nephew's close friendship with a man from trade? The answers to those questions are the only new ground this book explores. The rest was okay but not really unique.

Bittersweet short story wherein Elizabeth and Colonel Fitzwilliam meet several years after their respective experiences in Kent. Darcy and Elizabeth did NOT encounter each other when she toured Pemberley. There's an HEA, but Elizabeth and Darcy do not end up together.
Another book off the pile - good. But I don't think I want to read a story in which Elizabeth and Darcy don't end up together. JAFF is supposed to guarantee a HEA for ODC as far as I am concerned.
As far as the story reveals (limited to Elizabeth's point of view), they do end up happy - just not with each other. It's the Bennet family's past that's sad.
I have to admit I enjoyed your #116. We don't realize how pivotal the meeting at Pemberley is until it does NOT happen.
Darcy would continue on with his life regretting his lost opportunity [and his chance at love] while visiting Kent. He needed an heir. He had to marry.
Elizabeth and her family would have to deal with the scandal created by her youngest sister on their own. She would have her own regrets about missed opportunities. She needed to go forward.
There was no way for D&E to meet again. Their paths simply would not cross. They were not from the same social circle so there was no reason for them to 'run' into each other. Regrets, they have a few.
If I have to read where Elizabeth can't be with Darcy... Richard [or whatever name the author chooses for him] is the next best option. I can tolerate him with Elizabeth but not Collins or Wickham. GRRR!
I agree with Sheila. If Darcy and Elizabeth don't end up together, the story is not for me. I don't mind Elizabeth getting engaged or married to the Colonel (definitely not Collins and never Wickham) but I would always want her to end up with Darcy.
If you have to pick one of the three then preferably the colonel.. but my preference is: Not Collins because it makes Elizabeth mercenary.
Not Wickham because it makes her stupid.
Not the Colonel because the author will likely have to kill him off.
