One of the new hot books for Jan 2022. I had mixed feelings for this new murder mystery. It starts slow, the story picked up in the second half but it wasn't enough to save it for me; although the ending included feel good twists but felt a bit forced.

Ah, just started this one tonight with an online book club! I’m not loving the first few chapters so I hope it does pick up.

I enjoyed this book - perhaps not as much as my online club, many of whom rated it 5 stars, but I rounded up a 3.5 rating to 4 myself. Fully agree it was slow to start and I wasn't liking Molly Gray much, but the story picked up the pace after her murder accusation and I found it hard to put down. I also finished it while lounging in a hotel room, which seemed fitting. The Maid was the Jan GMA pick. For me, it was much lighter fare and a more pleasant reading experience than "Read with Jenna" (Today Show)'s Jan pick, The School for Good Mothers.
