ahh sorry for not posting my thoughts! i'm a good chunk into the book, abt 40%

(view spoiler)[ honestly my mind is pretty blank when it comes to this book because it just leaves me a bit speechless after each chapter. the pov changes definitely confused/surprised me at first. also, ruth's chapter killed me not gonna lie. it felt so powerful but then i got lost and didn't want to find my way back :,) (hide spoiler)]

Same here! I'm actually reading more slowly than I had expected, so I don't think I'm even 40% yet (just finished "Ruth"). I'll try to pick up the pace and respond soon.

Sorry, this has just been a much slower read than I had anticipated. As you mentioned in your first comment, the POV changes are one challenge. At first I didn’t mind them, and I guess I still don’t, but I do find myself having to slow down and assess which viewpoint I’m reading with each new chapter.

I have to say, I have recently noticed quite a backlash against magical-realist literature, and I haven’t really been part of it. But the speculative aspects of this book are bothering me. I just finished “The Revelation of Judas,” and the confrontation between Maggie and Amos just had me shaking my head. I guess I’m losing my taste for that kind of supernatural goings-on.

oh, no problem! take however long you need ahah. sorry you're slowly losing taste in those kinds of book
