This is one of those books you may not be able to sit down and read straight through but still has much to commend it.

I'll try to post some choice bits now and then, although may not be the same favorites as the next reader's.

From "The Life Cycle" section:
"It is a sobering thought, that when Mozart was my age he had been dead for two years"
---Tom Lehrer
(from quite a while ago, since Mozart died at 35 while Tom Lehrer is now 93!)

"I will never be an old man. To me, old age is always fifteen years older than I am."
---Bernard Baruch

"I think your whole life shows in your face and you should be proud of that."
---Lauren Bacall

What are some of the quips or aphorisms that stand out for you?

From the section "The Getting of Wisdom:"

"A bookstore is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking."
---Jerry Seinfeld

If that's the case, I guess fewer people are still thinking!

I read that a retiring comedian by the name of Ron White has a book to his credit called I Had the Right to Remain Silent but I Didn't Have the Ability. He isn't Jewish as far as I know, but that title gets him an honorary Jewish humor award from me. No, not included in this book.

Thanks, Stacey. Some great lines are in this book. For example, here are two from the "Family" section:

Big families are important when you have trouble in your life.
---Neil Simon

Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city.
---George Burns

I can't be sure the following quote is not in the book since I haven't finished it. But I found it in another book.

I don't want to achieve immortality through my work; I want to achieve immortality through not dying.
---Woody Allen
