Sarita | 1386 comments Hello Team!

Looking forward to this challenge.

Have you thought about how we will tackle this?
I think we should def try aiming for the max points each round, but for the difficult categories get at least 1.

message 5: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Open to suggestions! Look forward to learning what will be called first.

message 6: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments I think it is quite open - any book to fit the category.

I think we should def try to see if we can find books for max points, but won't be so easy for difficult categories.

Maybe, when a category is called, we can drop a few books as suggestions which will work - then we can help if someone is not sure (especially with supporting characters and and animals etc).

message 7: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Suggestions would be great once category called.

Awesome! I might go for Karen Witemeyer's!

message 20: by Christy (new)

Christy (blissbooksandjewels) | 247 comments It won't count for the challenge, but I am currently in the middle of At Love's Command by Karen Wittemeyer, and the MC's horse is named Phineas. Maybe he makes an appearance in the second book in the series (mentioned above)?

ooo - this is actually on my to read soon list, so maybe should read this one!

message 22: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (ksnapier) | 705 comments I'm going to read The Chocolate Puppy Puzzle (A Chocoholic Mystery, #4) by JoAnna Carl

message 23: by Christy (new)

Christy (blissbooksandjewels) | 247 comments From what I'm reading, the only way to get two points is if both the animal and its name start with the letter P. Does anyone else know for sure?

message 24: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments That's right Christy. It would be two points for example if a book included a puppy named Pepper as example.

message 25: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments I’ve found one with a parrot with a name starting with P as well - so will go for that for 2 points - To steal a heart by Jen Turano.

message 26: by Christy (last edited Jan 20, 2022 11:51AM) (new)

Christy (blissbooksandjewels) | 247 comments I'm going to do The Wedding Machine by Beth Webb Hart which features Peaches, the poodle. 2 points. :)

message 27: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Since we have two weeks, it might be best to hold off on posting until close to the end of the window. That way if you have a one point book and later read a two point book, you could use the two point book instead. Unless, of course, it's ok to post one book and then later replace it with another.

If you post one book and then later in the round finish a book worth more points, you can just post a new comment with the updated read and let me know to switch. :)

Notice

If you have a team member that didn't check in or finish a book for a round, someone else on the team may post an extra book to fill in for them.

Preference is for each member to read their own (1) book, but life happens and sometimes someone can't read as expected.

message 30: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Wonderful Melanie! Thank you for clarifying that we can update if we later read a book worth more points and it’s still in the two week window.

message 31: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments Great! I will read two books, one for 2 points and then a back up if needed.

Ellie Coleman https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

I’ll do this one… Picture Imperfect by Alyssa Roat. Has a dog named Peaches

message 35: by Christy (new)

Christy (blissbooksandjewels) | 247 comments I'll be starting on The Wedding Machine in a couple of days, but I just finished the audiobook for Relative Silence by Carrie Stuart Parks which mentions a pygmy goat as one of the animals in the wildlife rescue. Worth 1 point in case I am not able to finish The Wedding Machine in time (I should be able to). :)

message 36: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments Finished To Steal a Heart (The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency, #1) by Jen Turano and it has loads of P options (to bad only one mention counts) - Parrot: Pretty lady and Poodle, Precious.

message 40: by Sarita (new)

Christy/Tina/Ellie - are you on track?

I didn't get the sentence for my back-up book, but have the page number. Sarita, I think you have a back-up too right? If so, please go ahead and post.

message 43: by Christy (new)

Christy (blissbooksandjewels) | 247 comments I hope to finish my two pointer by the deadline tonight. If I don't finish it, I do have a one pointer as a backup.

I have a question, if I read another one of the books in the same series, which have the same characters, would it count as another point?

I think we only get credit for one book per person. I think if you read an extra, we can count it as a backup for a person that wasn't able to complete that round. Anyone else clear on that?

message 50: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments You are right on point Christy. It would be great to have a back-up just in case. However, each member of the team can only post one book. The back-up would be used if a member of the team is unable to post.
