Sara W (sarawesq) | 2153 comments Hey everyone! Our March 1 - April 30 European Royalty group read will be:

The Devil's Queen: A Novel of Catherine de Medici

The Devil's Queen A Novel of Catherine de Medici by Jeanne Kalogridis

by Jeanne Kalogridis

Jeanne Kalogridis

We will start the discussion on MARCH 1ST.

We'll do the discussion threads broken up by chapters like all the other times, but this thread can be used for general reasons. Just don't discuss the book in any detail here! (General "I'm a couple chapters in and I like it" comments are fine, but we'll start the real discussion threads on MARCH 1st.) For those of you just joining us, you can look through the previous threads in this Group Read section to see how we did it before because the process will be the same (there's also a thread just like this thread for the other books we've read together).

Kirsten (kielianne) | 11 comments This book has been on my shelf for so long! I'm excited to get it read! :)

Shannon Elizabeth Heffner (thepinkroseoftexas) | 5 comments I'm very glad this was the book that was chosen, because other than the book I suggested, I had read almost every other title! I'm looking forward to this one. I really liked Kalogridis's The Borgia Bride and The Burning Times.

Kirsten (kielianne) | 11 comments How is everyone doing with this book so far? I wasn't able to start it in March but am hoping to pick it up this month!

Shannon Elizabeth Heffner (thepinkroseoftexas) | 5 comments I picked it up and read it immediately once it was selected as the group read since I was in between books at the time. Overall, I enjoyed this book and I was glad that it was chosen because it had been on my TBR shelf forever and I enjoyed the couple other books that I've read by this author (The Borgia Bride and The Burning Times). I hope you'll enjoy it when you get a chance to pick it up. It's a quick read, definitely more on the fictional side than factual as far as the life of the real Catherine de Medici, but it's a fun read (dark in some places!), but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think this book will provide some good points for discussion since it has many moments that make you ask yourself, "What would I do in that situation?" All in all an interesting read. I'm looking forward to discussing it! :)
