I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but I think this group might enjoy my collection, or at least most of it. You can, of course, buy it, but more than anything, I'm trying to build a fan base and a reputation for being a scoundr-- sound writer.
So I will include a free link with the caveat that you try to give a fair and honest review.
Abercrombie has influenced me, and my stories tend to lean away from generic fantasy.
Disclaimer: Many people have told me that the first story is hard to enjoy. (I'm playing with ways to make it a better story, or at least wedge it between two good ones, but it's partly where the title of the whole collection comes from.) It's less character-focused than any other piece in the work, which is unfortunate seeing that it's the first story.
I would start with story two, read through the rest if you see fit, and then return to story one, knowing that I am capable of better and that I was less experienced when I wrote that one.
Disclaimer 2: Most of these stories received Honorable Mentions in the quarterly Writers of the Future contest-- even story one-- before an editor had a crack at them for this collection.
My apologies for the long post. I feel honesty goes a long way and want to attempt to put my best foot forward, seeing as I just found this group this morning!
