This is the readalong/discussion thread for Chapter 8-10 (Half House Interlude - Addam Saint Nicolas) for Week 2! Please limit your comments to the events and characters that appear in those chapters.

We're now officially into WEEK 2 of the readalong! Cue cheers!! So far we've been divvying the discussions into 2 chapter chunks, but If there are changes you'd like to see with the format, please let us know.

M Gregs | 11 comments I appreciate Addam so much more this time around within the context of the second book and shorts. But I still really want to know how a guy as solid as Addam came out of the Justice family. Did he get all dad’s genes or…? Same question for Quinn. These two are a far cry from mom’s, “I won’t meddle, but I’ll vengeance.”

Which leads to another question: do either Addam or Quinn have a legitimate shot at the Crusader Throne? Is the concept of Justice changing with the new generation so that it is focused on intention as much as action?

And finally, I’m intrigued by Justice’s apparent lack of… justice… over the unsanctioned raid on the Sun Court. Which raises, again, the question of how many strings Lord Tower is pulling, given his ties to the Justice scions.

Hannah | 98 comments I'm assuming we'll find what what the "crimes against humanity" were that led to the disbanding of the Hourglass throne, because I've wondered since the first time I was introduced to Farstryke Castle.

I'm also curious to know two things: 1) why was Farstryke Castle translocated? It seems a lot of energy to expend for a court that no longer exists. And 2) why was this the sole Atlantean property chosen for translocation?

Hannah | 98 comments I love our introduction to Addam. So far in the book we've heard Rune disparage scions, and while we've heard Addam is a good brother, we've also heard things that fit into Rune's idea of how scions are, such as Addam's walkabouts, etc. And that first second we meet him, dancing to music and drinking wine in Farstryke Castle, he seems to fit Rune's idea of scions.

Then he whirls around to stake Rune before realizing he's not an enemy and there goes the idea of him being a normal scion. An idea further enforced when we learn he stores his sigils with useful things. And I love it.

Hannah | 98 comments I also want to know more about Quinn and Ciaran and the fact that apparently Ciaran is around Quinn enough that when Addam sees him his first thought is it's because of Quinn.

Hannah | 98 comments I wish I had a sibling like Addam. He's just been rescued from being kidnapped and held by a terrifying being, learned that the only person seemingly looking for him was Lord Tower and not his family, and he seems relatively unphased until he learns Quinn is injured. And the moment he learns that, that's all that matters.
