there's not a specific discussion for this or anything but the term "desi" refers to the indian/bangladeshi/pakistani diaspora that lives/resides outside of these countries, is there an all-inclusive term?

i mean ik it's only for people who live abroad but we, i mean me and my irls, have normalised calling any one of that descent regardless of their location desi. like even if u live in the country itself

so "desi" means people who are of indian/bangladeshi/pakistani descent (their ethnicity), but specifically those who were born and live OUTSIDE of these countries (usually US, UK, or australia)... so it doesnt apply to people who live or were born in india, bangladesh, or pakistan currently

ah ok ok arl, the technical def is people who live abroad, which is how i use it, like i wouldnt call my cousins who live in india desi, but i would call myself and my fam desi bc we were born and raised here, (so it's the diaspora), but i get it <333
