Desperation in Death

Can't wait. (that sounds so wrong but I know you all will understand that statement.)
SB, I think that may be a mistake. I went to the publisher’s site and he’s not listed as narrator. I’ll keep an eye on this.

SB, not sure why you’re feeling offended as nothing above was directed towards you.
It is highly unusual for the book distributor to have information the publisher hasn’t released. I’m a Goodreads librarian and edited these editions. When I first applied the covers and the data, no narrator was noted on Amazon or Audible. I checked the publisher again today and the narrator hasn’t yet been added. That’s why I suggested it might be an error.
Audible/Amazon DO make errors…all the time. I have submitted corrections to them many times in the past. I also did the same thing Sharon did in checking out this Mark Williams. I just can’t imagine he’d be the one to replace Susan Ericksen.
Hope this provides some clarity. I plan to monitor because I do believe it’s an error.

You’re inferring something that wasn’t implied, SB. When that’s explained, there’s not much more we can do. We are just as bewildered as you.
I reread everything and can’t even find the tone you inferred. The error is believed to be with Amazon, not what you saw, and that’s what we stated.

I’m just asking you to reread what was stated in light of our intent. Maybe that would be helpful in you understanding that no one meant you any disrespect or harm. The “exactly” was our belief that Amazon, not you, had made an error.
Can you accept that?
Can you accept that?

I certainly hope you are right. I can't imagine hearing all the characters we know and love with different voices. This has happened with books from other authors and it completely ruined the book for me.

I agree Judy. It isn't always the author's fault though. I know one author's narrator died. Many authots had to adjust to Christian Fox dropping off of the narrator list.

Thought I'd share this . Susan Erickson is still the narrator. 👏👏👏 Was a mistake correct by the publishing company

Yeah but would you attack anybody for wanting a full-cast dramatized remake of the earlier books? Because that's what happened to me, a SIMPLE HARMLESS SUGGESTION and I basically get told to sit down and shut up.
That’s the world of Facebook. Enter at your own peril. There’s no one managing unacceptable behavior.

You really have to know where and when to say anything because the attack? It can be Vicious!
I loved the buddy reading group. There I felt really safe. Yes I didn't agree with everyone all the time but that was okay. All comments were excepted for what it was, your own opinion or view. Just putting it out there I miss the buddy reads ☺

You wanna know something funny? I didn't even know that there was a scare over the audiobook, I mostly carried on like things were normal, combine with the fact that I was too busy to pay attention.

I’ve posted the links to excerpts and the book trailer in the first message. Also including here.

Once again, Nora is asking readers to "Trust me" as we prepare for the release of the next In Death book. Great article from Fall Into The Story. And I agree with her 100%. If I didn't, I would have stopped reading these books a few years ago. lol

👏 👏 Amen
I have never u derstood peoples obsession/possessiveness of authors works. I mean you fell in love with a series /characters because it came from that author. They know and have crafted the works. So why would you think you would know better, suggestions is one thing but in the end the creator is the one who has to be in control. Otherwise, for me anyway, it's not the authors creations anymore.
I just don't get it. We have lively discussions here where we speculate what may or may not happen with a character. It's fun for us and just another opportunity to engage in this series we love. We never even think Nora should entertain ideas from us, at least I never do. I'm not the creator of these characters and stories, nor should what I want have any priority over what someone else may want in the series. I look forward to where Nora decides to take us next.
I can't tell you how many times I see review of a book where the reader criticizes the book because they thought a character should have behaved in a way other than what the author crafted. If it didn't work for you, just say it didn't feel realistic to you. I judge a book by how well an author immerses me in a story and leads me wherever it goes. I go into it with an open mind.
Trust Nora? Implicitly. Why else would I have read over 60 stories in one series???? Not the time for her to listen to me now.

I notice that many new indie authors do ask for readers' suggestions or change their stories based on negative comments. When I see authors do that, I think this is no longer your story, it is a group effort.
Established authors wouldn't think of doing that.

I can't say it any better. It's absolutely ridiculous when readers go off on an author over HER book concerning the way she/he wrote it. IMO, there's only 2 choices: l)Keep reading their work. 2)No longer read the author's work. End of story.

So true. It’s hard for me to give up on an author but I’ve done so when I no longer enjoy her/his stories. No need for me to bash.

We l discuss, speculate and generally share our thoughts but never do we demand or anything g else that would come across as possessive.

I agree! lol This is an awesome group that I feel comfortable with. Can't say that about every group.

A little OTT - earlier in the thread and the discussion re: Susan Ericksen - I too love this performer (she doesn't really narrate, does she?) and in fact I only devour this series in the audio now. But things happen. Like when Katy Kellgren sadly passed away and Rhys Bowen had to look for her new Lady Georgie.
I'm sure it would be a tragedy and a heartache to look for her new Eve Dallas (and Roarke and Peabody, etc).
It is such a pleasure that book 55 has me still salivating with anticipation!!
New York, 2061: The place called the Pleasure Academy is a living nightmare where abducted girls are trapped, trained for a life of abject service while their souls are slowly but surely destroyed. Dorian, a thirteen-year-old runaway who’d been imprisoned there, might never have made it out if not for her fellow inmate Mina, who’d hatched the escape plan. Mina was the more daring of the two—but they’d been equally desperate.
Unfortunately, they didn’t get away fast enough. Now Dorian is injured, terrified, and wandering the streets of New York, and Mina lies dead near the waterfront while Lt. Eve Dallas looks over the scene.
Mina’s expensive, elegant clothes and beauty products convince Dallas that she was being groomed, literally and figuratively, for sex trafficking—and that whoever is investing in this high-overhead operation expects windfall profits. Her billionaire husband, Roarke, may be able to help, considering his ties to the city’s ultra-rich. But Roarke is also worried about the effect this case is having on Dallas, as it brings a rage to the surface she can barely control. No matter what, she must keep her head clear--because above all, she is desperate for justice and to take down those who prey on and torment the innocent.

Devereaux funded the whole operation and Iris ran it. However, she didn’t know that he ran the auction, which “charged” the Academy fees for use. Eve and team took down the entire operation. Devereaux was killed by Luna/Amari seconds before Eve was going to arrest him. Reo made a deal with Beaty for 20 years and she spilled her guts. Then Reo turned her over to the Feds, meaning she‘ll never get out of prison.
Dorian will stay at An Didean, along with Tom/Mouser who found her and brought her to Sebastian. He reached out to Mavis when he realized who she was and facilitated handing her over to Eve. (hide spoiler)]
