This is the group thread for Dial A for Aunties!

Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days of the month can be used to catch up if needed! Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads.

The Group Read Discussion schedule is as follows:

Week of 03/11
March 11: Chapters 1-3 or 30 pages
March 12: Chapters 4-6 or 30 pages
March 13: Chapters 7-9 or 30 pages

Week of 03/14

You can read the group book at any time during the month and at your own pace. This is the pace the group will be using, but if you read ahead or will be giving spoilers, please mark them (click the "some html is ok button"). If you have any questions a mod or another member can help you.

You can start the book whenever you want in the month of March. I just thought this way, if there was a kinda definite time for the books to be read, that more of us would participate.

I want to read 2 of the books, maybe even all 3, but I knew I would have a problem which book to pick up first because I don't know what the majority would pick up first.. and I like to talk to people about the books I read.

Looking forward to reading with you!

I'm excited to start this later today. Is anyone else joining me? It WOULD be more fun to discuss with someone instead with myself 😄

Jen K | 1547 comments My copy is still in transit from the library. I totally missed that these group reads have staggered dates and got Love & Gelato first....

Amanda | 126 comments I'll be starting this book later today. I look forward to chatting with everyone about it!

I actually read Love & Gelato first... so I'm kind of ahead of the game, but I think it's fine.

Aliana (aliananana) | 88 comments Got a copy recently so looking forward to reading it with y'all! I'll be starting it sometime later, most likely tonight.

I just saw when the "starting date" is, I thought it was the 10th 😂 Well in that case I won't be behind on reading. Atm I'm on chapter 1, almost done with it, and it's interesting but it didn't hook me. And honestly, if there wasn't the author's note in the beginning about her family and how she grew up, I would've liked it a tad less because there's something that didn't click with me from the beginning.. hoping it will later on, but not too late.

Prologue & Chapter 1.
I get how all of her cousins left the first chance they got, but I like how the MC stayed.. even though it must've been a little "claustrophobic" for her. I don't have a family like that, and am not super close with my parents I still get the feeling of being trapped in a invisible bubble because I don't get to say and do things how/when I want to do them because oh, what would they say and things like that. So only thinking about the MCs situation... it makes me panic a little.

I know that later on I'll get who is who in 1 sec, but right now I'm confused which aunt is which, and what is whose specialty in this family business.

Her mother's stunt is funny.. because I'm reading about it and I am not on the receiving end. I'm scared and excited to see who actually will show up, because I believe NOTHING that her mother tells her that the guy is like. I mean it's the internet.
🤣🤣🤣 Oh nooo, things got more catastrophic

@Leslie you'll see the msgs in chapter 7. I died 🤣🤣

Amanda | 126 comments I've read through to chapter 9 and I can't say this book is really clicking with me yet. There are some moments where I laugh at how insane everything is, but I find myself more interested in the chapters about Meddy and Nathan (which could totally be because I'm a hopeless romantic). I want to like this book so much, and while I don't dislike it now, I don't know if my opinion will change much. I hope I can start to like it. It is pretty funny so far. I just think that the style and combination of romance and comedy in this book isn't clicking with me (hopefully it's more of a "yet" rather than a lasting disconnect).

Yes, me too! rotfl Thank goodness for Fourth Aunt's translations, lol...

Amanda | 126 comments I've finished the book, and it did get better for me. It wasn't so much a great read for me as it was cute and easy to get through starting in the second part.

I was kind of surprised at times (which I didn't really think was possible because almost everything felt very obvious).

(view spoiler)

Overall, it was cute. I saw somewhere that there was a sequel, and I might keep it in mind if I ever get through my TBR.

I skipped a day-two, because I didn't want to finish the book too fast 😂 I guess, I should pick it up later to read a bit.

Leslie Dauer-Creek | 320 comments I just got through chapter 25. Oh-em-effin-gee! I'm laughing so hard my stomach (and face) hurts! I will not spoil it for the rest of you....

Just picked up the book and I already have a...something. She broke up with the guy she adores because of the curse, she just knew he would leave her.. so naturally she brakes up with him, and lies about the reason like giiiirl no.

(I love it when I start reading a book, and start writing comments down, and then I forget about the commenting part.. and when I post it it's like I just started it... 3 hours ago)

I'm atm on chapter 22, really, just right somewhere in chapter 22 as I type this. Things are getting more complicated with the main bridesmaid. I'm getting used to it, but the silliness is not hitting the spot it was aiming for. It's still interesting, just I'm not super crazy about it.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
just finished chapter 25.. and oh, things couldn't get more catastrophic.. well.. I'm actually pretty sure they can and will. The situations are just crazy.

I like Meddy and Nathan.

Leslie Dauer-Creek | 320 comments I couldn't help it. It roped me in and I finished it. Worth it!

* Omg, how annoying is the groom, what a prick!
* 😂 Oh no, her mother and her medicine.
* Well, with this kind of sheriff I will be surprised if she gets charged with murder... Oooooh, just read what the sheriff and his old detective work did... yeeeeeah.
* Saying you are an attorney when you are not...yeeeah, I get this book is going for crazy unbelievable things but I just cringe how she's burying herself with stuff.

Finished it. It was a fun and easy read.

Jen K | 1547 comments Finally picked this up last night. Hoping for fun and easy.

Have fun and update us on your progress.

Jen K | 1547 comments Started and finished yesterday. It was a fun and quick read. There were a number of gaps/ needs to suspend disbelief but fun characters and quirky situations. So much was just not realistic but still fun to go with it.
