This is the readalong/discussion thread for Chapter 5 (The Greek Docks) for Week 5! Please limit your comments to the events and characters that appear in those chapters.

I want the button to come back in the last book and save everyone. It would make me so happy if this button became the most important thing in the books.

I feel like Quinn may just be the most powerful character in these books. If he ever went evil, there would be no stopping him.

I also think he's seen/ knows way more than we've learned, and it'll be interesting to see the role he plays once the Hourglass throne comes into play, because it seems to me like prophecies would qualify as part of time magic.

Also, we haven't even met the Hanged Man yet and he's so much creeper than Rurik.

Yes, I think the corduroy button will have major significance.

I hope we see more of Kellum Greenwater in future books and learn more about his life.

I've somehow managed to have every question on Twitter ignored, so I thought I'd ask you :) Is Brand visiting the docks for their intended purpose, or do we find he's there on a mission to pick up information while he relaxes at the bar(s)? He doesn't strike me as the brothel-going type, although it would avoid the possibility of emotional entanglements that might pull him away from Rune.

I like the mystery surrounding Brand’s visits to the docks and also that he gets some down time. My question is who, prior to Addam coming on the scene, protected Rune while Brand has some well earned time off.

I bet he has a backup plan that includes Tower and Mayan, and he probably has Queenie on high alert, as well!

Hi F! I'm so sorry your questions are getting missed - could you link me to one, so I can see where it is and try to figure out why it didn't get answered? (It might just be that KD missed them in the barrage of questions.)

I believe it's said that Brand hooks up with a few people he's met at the Green Docks, but I don't know if he's paying for sex. We definitely don't meet anyone he's slept with. I think it's expanded on a little in the next chapter?

I wondered about this too, but I'm with F; he probably drops Rune off at Lord Tower's tower like dropping him off with a babysitter!

(Or, more realistically, there might be a system where the Companions of Atlantis cover each other's charges when one of them takes a night off. I can definitely see that being a thing. In which case it could be Mayan, or even some other Companion we haven't met on-page yet who keeps an eye on Rune when Brand's away.)

I was watching something about the Ourang Medan yesterday and all I could think of is that that's a story that has Atlantis written all over it. Wonder if it's somewhere in the Green Docks =)
