That's cool!

Who was your favorite character?

I read it last year. It was my first book by Leigh Bardugo and it was a success. I rated it 5 stars but Mal's character was really irritating. Otherwise the other character were great. And I like The Darkling.

I also liked S&B, and I did like the Darkling, but I didn't find Mal too annoying.

Have you read anything else by Leigh Bardugo since then?

Sarah I have read the full Shadow & Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology, it was a while ago now but I really loved them all :)

I never found Mal irritating but he was also never a plausible love interest for me. He was just a bit meh.

Yeah I read this whole trilogy and Six of Crows duology which was awesome King of Scars duology which was also great but I loved SOC the most. And all the other companion books of Grishaverse. Also read Wonder Woman: Warbringer by her which was good too. Going to read Ninth House in April.

Kim | 3 comments I'm wondering why a lot of people don't see Mal as a valid love interest and/or find his character really irritating? Neither occurred to me while I was reading it, but I see in a lot of the forums these thoughts are mentioned over and over again.

I guess maybe it's because of the later books? I'm not sure, because I kind of agree with you. Mal was kind of annoying, but not that much. In the first book, I did think Mal was a valid love interest. . . . (Not as much as the trilogy went on, though)
