- Any genres are acceptable.
- Any book length is acceptable.

For the competitive (optional)
- At the end of each month, document your finished books in the reporting thread

April Challenge - April Fool's Day

1. 1856: In the days leading up to April 1, 1856, London residents received an official-looking invitation printed on Tower of London stationery offering admission to “view the annual ceremony of washing the lions”. Spectators showed up for the display, only to learn they’d fallen prey to an April Fools’ hoax.
- Read a book that is set in London, Africa or India

2. 1957: The BBC television programme Panorama ran a hoax in 1957, purporting to show the Swiss harvesting spaghetti from trees. They claimed that the despised pest, the spaghetti weevil, had been eradicated. A large number of people contacted the BBC wanting to know how to cultivate their own spaghetti trees.
- Read a book with food in the title or on the cover

3. 1962: Swedish national television broadcast a 5-minute special on how one could get color TV by placing a nylon stocking in front of the TV. Thousands of people tried it.
- Read a book with a colourful cover, at least 5 different colours needed (different shade of the same colour do not count, font colour can be included)

4. 1976: BBC and Astronomer Sir Patrick Moore told listeners that at 9:47 a.m. that day, the temporary alignment of Pluto and Jupiter would cause a reduction in Earth’s gravity, allowing people to briefly levitate. Sure enough, at 9:48, hundreds of enthralled callers flooded the lines with reports that they had floated in the air
- Read a book with a planet(s) or star(s) on the cover.

5. 2000: Google's first April Fools' Day hoax, the MentalPlex hoax, invited users to project a mental image of what they wanted to find whilst staring at an animated GIF. Several humorous error messages were then displayed on the search results page
- Read a book with a GR main page tag of Paranormal

6. 2006: Google Romance was announced on the main Google search page with the introduction, "Dating is a search problem. Solve it with Google Romance"
- Read a book with a GR main page tag of Romance

7. 2007: Google changed the login page for Gmail to announce a new service called Gmail Paper. The service offered to allow users of Google's free webmail service to add e-mails to a "Paper Archive", which Google would print (on "94% post-consumer organic soybean sputum") and mail via traditional post.
- Read an epistolary novel (The term "epistolary novel" refers to the works of fiction that are written in the form of letters or other documents)

8. 2008: All featured videos on YouTube linked to a video of Rick Astley's song "Never Gonna Give You Up", causing all users of the website who clicked on featured videos to be Rickrolled.
- Read a book with the word 'Never', 'Give', or 'You' in the title

9. 2011: Google Translate for Animals - Google UK offered a version of Google Translate which could be used to talk with animals
- Read a book with a talking animal(s) as one of the characters

10. 2011: Google teleport - a service that allows user to time trave, claiming that it can take the user on a journey through time and space in first-person
- Read a book with time travel as part of the story
