I enjoyed it, but my hackles went up on:

(view spoiler)[Older Sorian fires the gun to kill Adam's father and the bullet is yanked out of its trajectory by the super-magnetized reactor, ending up killing the young Sorian. If the magnet power was so strong to yank a bullet out of its momentum in such a short distance, why didn't it pull the gun out of older Sorian's hand? Presumably, the gun had more than one bullet in it. (hide spoiler)]

But I'm sure there are a lot more nitpicks that could be pointed out.

I was also sorry to see...(view spoiler)[...that Adam's father was still dead at the end. I had assumed Sorian had "arranged" the car accident to get him out of the picture and have sole control of the time machine. If nothing else, I would have expected the father's life to have changed enough with Sorian's death so that even if it was an accident, it's unlikely to occur at the same time and place. I agree with both of your nitpicks :) As I said in my review, the time travel part of the story was ok. It was the family story that really made the movie enjoyable.

The interaction of the young and old Adam was a hoot. Ryan Reynolds is funny as always, but the kid was great -- always getting the last word and one-upping him.

Yeah, the kid was fantastic -- it also good to see Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo.

I thought the same thing about the car accident!

I enjoyed it. I thought it was still a fun movie even if there were a few items that make you scratch your head.

Even though I watched this one at the beginning of August I don't remember a lot about it except I thought the actor who played young Adam wasn't right for the role. At the time, though, I wrote about it in my journal. I guess I didn't like it: "Most of the movie is smarmy with predictable action and dialog and a supposedly feel good ending which didn’t feel so good. The time travel stuff was not very thought out either."
