A crime novel that makes you feel like you are watching a nordic police procedural. Set in a fictional island between England and Denmark, the residents are a mix of mainly Scandinavians and some English and Europeans. The author created a history of the place (a country in itself) and the people living there with the main character a middle age detective with a tragic past. It is a very engaging read and I love all the details on the detective work, and also the twist in the end.

This is book one of a trilogy with the second book already out and the third one coming this autumn. I've already bought (and preordered) them all and highly recommend the series to crime novel lovers who enjoy a good scandi atmospheric read.

I would like to add that this is translated fiction, written originally in Swedish and translated into British-English.
