Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3594 comments I've had several cats in my life, and I've loved them all. The last one was run over in the road in front of my house, and I've never had another because I realized that if you love a cat, you need to keep it safe inside. I thought I was doing Maggie a favor by letting her have the freedom of being outside, but I was wrong.

Very sorry about your cat.

When I was young, my family always had indoor/outdoor cats. They generally lived 9-12 years, then disappeared to die. As an adult I've kept cats 100% indoors. Two of them lived to 21. Huge difference.
