Trip (shardsofromance) | 29 comments Starting this one tonight, I may have to read ahead. As my hold came in early and runs out at end of week, I could have returned it but unlikely would've had it in time to read now.

It seems to be very popular, lots of waiting list at library even with being a few copies 😂

Chapters 1-5

Amanda | 126 comments I feel like Piper's shallowness is a bit too exaggerated at the moment for me, but a friend who read it before mentioned that she gets better as the book goes on. I don't hate her though, but I don't have many thoughts on her yet.

Brendan is intriguing, but I'm not sure I know enough to form an opinion on him either.

So far, I'm really liking what I'm seeing (but it's early yet). I look forward to reading with you all!

@Laura - No problem about the reading ahead thing. I'm finding this a pretty easy read so I might do that too if I don't get too busy with the Ruin and Rising BR.

Trip (shardsofromance) | 29 comments End of Chapter 4

I agree, she comes across ridiculous to me so far. Considering she is 28, she acts like a spoiled teenager. The constant mention of how gorgeous she is and her reaction to being sent away, cut off she just seems so childish. I don't hate her, I just find very cliche and boring. I can see why many may love her though.

Brendan seems like the typical bad boy type at moment, very set in his ways by looks of it and hate how he looked down on the girls. Even with how ridiculous they're. But not seen enough of him yet, so see what happens.

Its definitely easy reading, fast paced and short chapters so that helps. I'm not sure at the moment about it, feeling it won't be for me but I'm still intrigued to see how things develop and character growth.

Darcey | 382 comments sorry guys, i don't think i'll be able to buddy read this one with you all, life got a bit busy! hope you all enjoy though :))

Amanda | 126 comments I've read a bit ahead (to chapter 15), but I will make sure to hide the spoilers. I wrote part 1 of this post before I read the second part, so I'm pretty sure the opinions I had for today's chapters are unaffected by what I read when I went ahead.

So, I've found this book easy to read and well-paced but maybe not exactly to my taste.

Piper, while I don't hate her, is a bit too spoiled. Piper is starting to show a different side of herself, but I can't get past her more obvious traits. Brendan hasn't really gotten my attention much; at most he's attracted some mild interest from me. There is room for both to grow, but I don't think their characters are really doing it for me (and for me, the characters make the story).

I'm not hating the book, it's just not clicking for me. However, there are definitely some moments where I had to chuckle... like when Piper lit their dinner on fire and ran out into the street with the flaming pan in hand. I definitely had to laugh at that seeing as when I was in high school I lit almost anything I tried to cook on fire (luckily I've gotten better at cooking, but I don't see that happening any time soon in Piper's future).

(view spoiler)

And that's where I'm at right now.

Trip (shardsofromance) | 29 comments Sorry I haven't continued yet, I just haven't felt motivated too. But going to give a final try tomorrow hopefully, see if gets any better for me. I can see why people love it for the writing, plot and fast pace just characters haven't clicked for me.

Amanda | 126 comments I have finished ahead of time and while I totally get why people like this book I don't think it was for me. I enjoyed myself well enough: it was fast-paced and relatively uncomplicated which makes for a good beach read. Like Laura said, I just couldn't get into or click with the characters. I think the plot got more interesting in the last quarter(ish) of the book, but I just couldn't fall in love with the characters (more so Piper than Brendan, although he was a bit hard to grow attached to as well).

Trip (shardsofromance) | 29 comments Oops I thought I had commented, sadly this was a dnf for me i only made it to ch 5 and gave up. I just wasn't invested or cared about either rmc enough to continue.

Amelia (whatameliareads) | 268 comments I am way behind but I have started it - first impression is Piper is very unlikeable but I guess that is the point
