Before the Fact by Francis Iles is a psychological suspense novel, about a wealthy heiress and her suspicions about her husband's motives and intentions. Is he really trying to kill her for her money? Will he succeed at it? In 1941 Alfred Hithcock made a movie based on the book, titled Suspicion and starring Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine. There is also a TV movie made in 1987, with Anthony Andrews and Jane Curtin in the main roles.
