The Procrastinators Book Club discussion

Welcome to the Ten Tiny Breaths Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on April 6th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:


Week of 04/08
April 06: Prologue + Chapters 1-4
April 07: Chapters 5-9
April 08: Chapters 10-14
April 09: Chapters 15-19
April 10: Chapters 20-22 + Epilogue

Prologue + Chapters 1 - 4

(view spoiler)[So technically I've read this before but I only barely remember anything. I was expecting for things to start coming back when I read but so far it feels like reading a new book which is kind of nice. It's interesting that Kacey completely stopped drinking but is willing to work at a bar, dealing with other drunk people. From what I understood, she fell into alcohol to cope with what happened to her family so not necessarily a true alcoholic which probably means being around it is less triggering. I am curious what her thing is with hands. (hide spoiler)]

The hands thing definitely threw me, I've been trying to figure it out, but nothing comes to mind. I love Storm she's a great side character. A bit random but I'm really curious to know what her tattoo is. I don't think it was mentioned unless I wasn't paying attention lmao. So far I'm loving it though! :)

Chapters 5 - 9

Things are definitely feeling like insta-love. The quote above kind of shows it - with little effort, within weeks, vital place in my life, etc. There's something shady about Trent though. I don't think he's necessarily a bad guy, but him always lurking at the club and how quick his personality shifts and how fast he all of a sudden has to leave for work and his mom? He's intriguing, that's for sure. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 10 - 14

(view spoiler)[The tattoo is of 5 ravens - she said for those that she lost. I know in the accident it was her boyfriend, best friend, and her parents which is 4 people so who is the 5th? Herself?
I'm not sure why but I have an inkling that Trent is somehow related to Cole (the survivor). Maybe not by family, but there's a connection there. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 15 - 19

(view spoiler)[I called it! I honestly don't know if it was an inkling that I was remembering since I've technically read it before but honestly - I don't remember really anything that has happened.
As someone who has PTSD (from different circumstances), this doctor's methods seem real out there - he is definitely unconventional. This whole romance thing is also kind of twisted, but in a weird way I get it. (hide spoiler)]

chapters 15-19

(view spoiler)[I think it was necessary what Cole/Trent's parents are doing for Kacey. I honestly have no idea how this book is going to end considering the circumstances and how close we are to the end. Livie is the cutest ever, I love that she hit Trent for hurting Kacey. I may read her book next because she has one in the series! (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 20 - 22 + Epilogue

(view spoiler)[That ending felt really rushed. I kind of wanted to see Storm and Dan's relationship more - like if they had their own novel of the series so the epilogue kind of made me sad. One thing I do really like is that they each had to heal separately. So many presentations of mental health in relationships in romances especially is that they heal together but more times than not it doesn't quite work out that way so that was refreshing. Chapters 20-22 + Epilogue

I agree! The ending definitely felt rushed, the book isn't exactly long so I feel that the author did make a mistake by not fully executing Kacey and Trent's ending. I'm happy that both characters did have the time apart to get better before reuniting, makes it more realistic.

I do kinda wish that we also had Trent's pov throughout the book, it would've made the book a lot more interesting. There is a book, book 1.5 from Trents pov, but I don't know if it was set prior to book 1, during book 1 or after book 1.
