I read this book sometime between 2010-2014--the book was in English and I believe published in the US, although that's debatable. It was about a group of children (mysteriously?) gathered in a haunted house to tell ghost stories of their own knowledge or making and then extinguishing a candle after each one. I remember specifically one of the characters, I believe a punk or goth type girl, gave a text/chat-based story a lá Hooked, which was the first time I had seen one. I believe the main character's name may have been Wyatt or something else starting with a W, but don't quote me on that. I remember that at the very end nearly all of the kids escape the house and the main character's hair inexplicably turns white--ghosts will do that to you. The book ends with the group ready to reenter the house and cleanse it once and for all, but "with help this time." I know the details are a little scarce, but if anyone has read or heard of this book and could give me the title or author name I would be forever grateful! Thank you!

When searching the detail about the candle I found this explanation:"the tradition of Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai (A Gathering of One Hundred Supernatural Tales), a popular Japanese game played at night, when people would meet to share folklore ghost stories and their own anecdotes. Stories were told one by one with a light of a hundred candles, blowing out a candle after each story."

The book is called Daemon Hall by Andrew Nance. The main character's name is Wade so it does start with a W!
