Tower Teams 9 - The Muses
>
All about and Announcements

newest »

This time, the theme is to be inspired by the Greek Muses while making your towers. You can read whatever you want as usual.
◈ For reading books
◈ Books less than 100 pages = 0 points
◈ Books between 100 and 1000 pages = 0.1 points/page
◈ Books over 1000 pages = 100 points
◈ Points will be rounded up/down from 0.5 as per standard maths
◈ For audio only books, the page count will be set as 100, no matter how long the audio is.
◈ For current BOM (Book of the Month) discussions
Writing a day's worth of discussion questions = 40 points
Participating in a current BOM (participating in discussion) = 20 points
NOTE: We will accept one team member per book per team for writing a days DQs. If, by three days prior to the BOM starting, we don't have enough volunteers to write all DQs, then we will let more than one team member per team write questions. If we have more people than days sign up (prior to 3 days before start date) we will randomise the volunteers to determine those who can write DQs.
Remember that you can collect your participation points from previous BOM (from January 2022) for an extra entry in the randomiser, on a basis of 3 participation points to 1 extra entry. Your team will be allowed a maximum of 6 entries for each BOM.
The first BOM for this challenge is the Themed BOM starting 16 May.
Restrictions:
- you must link posts to your participation if you want to claim them
- only one set of DQs will be allocated to each team
- must be from the main group, Backroom BOM participation doesn't count
- takes effect from January 2022 BOMs
Example:
Imagine the first challenge BOM is the June 2023 Adult BOM.
Cat participated in the January and February, plus the May Themed BOMs (5 participation points in total). She can therefore claim ONE extra entry for the June Adult, and still has two participation points. She participates in the June Adult, and thus gains an additional participation point (to a total of three). She can turn these three in for an extra entry in the June Themed BOM. She now has no participation points remaining.
Team Mods have three volunteers for the June Adult BOM: Cat (could claim two entries), Judith (could claim three entries) and Sophie (could claim two entries). They are only permitted a maximum of 6 entries, and so Judith only turns in enough participation points to claim two entries. Judith still has participation points to claim another entry in the June Themed BOM.
◈ Over-reading Penalty
If, as a team, you over-read compared to your sign-ups then a penalty will be applied to your page points. These will be checked at the end of the challenge. As the teams are created to be balanced by book number, you will all be working to the same totals and penalty points.
%age
over-read Penalty
0-109% 1 * page points
110-124% 0.9 * page points
125-149% 0.8 * page points
150+% 0.75 *page points
◈ For mini-challenges
It wouldn't be Tower Teams without a few surprises, so the Muses will strike at will throughout the challenge.

◈ Those people who want to keep their Profiles Private, must be willing to "Friend"
their Team Captain(s), the NBRC Mod account, or one of the Moderators, to allow
page count verification and to assist you if you are having difficulty with your
bookshelves.
◈ Teams will be similar in size to other Tower Teams or Wheelathon challenges. We haven't decided on the exact number, as we are going by books read, but we are shooting for 10-20 members.
◈ Books must be started after the start date of the challenge to count towards the challenge
◈ Books must be />100 pages. NOTE: This number is lower than our other team challenges!
For page number questions, please check with your captain who can ask in the Captains group for verification.
◈ Audio books are allowed. (For page numbers, use the "default" GR book page numbers. If the "default" is a Large Print version, use the next most popular edition for page numbers.
If there is no print / ebook, then the audio book must be longer than 3 hours, and page numbers will be set at 100 pages, no matter how long the audio is)
◈ Books with MPGs Childrens / Kids / Poetry / Play / Graphic Novel / Illustrated / Photography / Art (or which have "Illustrated" in the title or an "Illustrator" contributor in the metadata) must have at least 30,000 words (must be a verified count. sites that provide estimated word counts are not valid sources for verifying word count). ArBookFind is a great site to double check (there are also .co.uk and .com.au versions). If in doubt, ask your captain. A good rule of thumb is that if the audio is over 3 hours, the book will be long enough.
◈ Anything with the word" boxed set" in the title on Goodreads can not be used as "one book". They need to be shelved as separate books to count for this challenge.
◈ Any book in any language will count, as long as it meets the criteria.
◈ "Re-reads" will be allowed, if it has been six months since you have read the book. This includes listening to the audio version, if you've already read the book.
◈ This challenge involves adding a special bookshelf to your personal
GRs bookshelves other than "read." You may choose a preexisting one.
◈ Please wait to be told to which Team you are assigned. It might take awhile; however,
you will be able to count the books you have read from the START date of the challenge.
◈ Once you actually join, please check-in with your team discussion thread by posting the name of your bookshelf.
Remember to add a HYPHEN between words for your bookshelf.
◈ Helpful Tip: Knowing about Sticky Shelves may help you put your assigned
bookshelf near the top of your dropdown box.
◈ With MOBILE DEVICES there have been major problems when trying to
add books. If that is all you have to access the Internet, or you don't know how to Cut & Paste
on it, then this challenge probably is NOT the right fit for you.
◈ Discussion threads will be in the regular NBRC group. (No secret groups allowed this time)
◈ You do NOT have to join the discussion, if you don't want to; communicating
via posting a book is good enough. Nevertheless, Your Team wants to know if you are
still participating. We understand Real Life gets in the way. However, please plan to
"check-in" in some manner at least once every week. If we don't hear from you for two weeks, you may be replaced with another team member

◈ We need people to volunteer to be Team Captain(s) whose duties include:
- Keeping a Google Spreadsheet that all members can view (we will provide you with a template)You may rotate/share these duties. We would suggest you have at least one Co-Captain.
- checking team members books read and page counts
- communicating with a NBRC Moderator
- communicating with all Team Members
- making sure Team Members are staying active
- notifying the NBRC Mod if someone drops out
- have effective and kind (this is a game, remember) on-line communication skills to help members having trouble
- making sure Team Members belong on your team
- posting weekly status updates/reminders
- dealing with minor issues that arise
- post little challenges within challenges, if desired.
You may have as many Captains and Co-Captains as you like.
◈ Captains and Co-captains will need to have access to Goodreads daily and be posting to the team thread and updating the team spreadsheet at least every 2 days.
◈ Please let us know, when you make a request to sign-up, if you are interesting in being a Team Captain.

Meet The Muses May Mini
Our hosts on Mount Olympus (or TBR) would like to introduce themselves in preparation for the forthcoming festivities. To that end, they have inspired a mini-challenge to get your creativity started.
For this challenge, each muse has a selection of tasks to be completed. These are under the spoiler below.
(view spoiler)
◈ Only books read and finished from the start of the challenge until 9pm GMT+1 on 31st May will count for the Meet the Muses mini challenge.
◈ You will gain 5 points for each task you complete.
◈ For each Muse you complete all the tasks for, you get an additional 10 points.
◈ You may only complete each task once.
How a "spell it out" works
Spell out the word(s) using the first letter in the book's title, the first letter in the author's first or last name, or the first letter of a character's first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter of the series name. As always, if the first letter of a title starts with an indefinite or definite article ('A', 'An', 'The', etc.), you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word. If you are listening to an audiobook, the first letter in the narrator's first or last name also can be used. We're also allowing for Translators names, as long as the edition you are reading is a translation version.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Theseus needs your help! This year the minotaur isn't asking for seven young men and 7 maidens. Instead he wants books. Lots and lots of books.
As a supergroup of Trojans, Aegeans or Mythics, you need to make your way through the labyrinth, sacrificing a book to move every square. The books used have to be started after 1st June and have to be finished after you have revealed the square you want to use it for. You have until you complete the maze or the end of Tower Teams, whichever comes first.
Points
Each book used in the maze will gain 5 points for the team (mark the book with M in the minicode column of your spreadsheet).
The first supergroup to complete their maze will get 150 points, the second will get 100 points, the third will get 50 points. Each team in the supergroup will get this bonus.
When in the maze, you must choose a direction to travel: North, South, East, West.
Each direction has a specific quality to the book you need to read.
🏆 North - Book title starts with A-M
🏆 South - Book title starts with N-Z
🏆 East - Even number of pages
🏆 West - Odd number of pages
A task will generate automatically when you change squares in the maze. The book you read needs to meet the criteria for both the direction you want to travel and the task you have drawn.
For Example:
- Task: Read a book with the MPG Science Fiction.
- Wants to travel North (title first letter A-M).
- Ender's Shadow,
Fill in all the information requested, then hit submit to make your move.

Re reads are allowed (6 month rule)
Page count = minimum 100 pages
Any book meeting TT criteria is allowed.
Books used in the maze cannot be used for any other mini-challenge
As always, if the first letter of a title starts with ‘A’, ‘An’, ‘The’, etc., you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.
https://maze.meic.dev/
To access your maze, follow the link above.
Whether every member of your Supergroup has access to the username and password or if you want to keep it restricted to a group of the captains is up to you. Everyone should be able to see the maze and the task currently being worked on regardless.
FAQ
Read a book shelved/main genre (listed on the first page on GR) - Does this mean 1st page of tags or MPG?
On the 1st page of tags
My first task is as follows:
Task: Read a book that starts with the letter L
Direction: South (Title starts with N-Z)
How do I proceed? Do I read a book that starts with the letter L and another one with a title that starts with any letter between n and Z? If so, where do I post the two books as there is space for posting only one book.
A glitch in the matrix, sorry about this!
Instead of the title being L for the task, for now can you read a book where the author’s last name starts with L.
The same goes for anyone else who has this issue. If you get a task for a page number that ends so it is impossible to go East or West, then read a book that is that number in a series or has the number in the title.
I had hoped to get this fixed for TT, unfortunately RL has hit our family so this work around stays in place.
Sorry for sounding so dense. How do I identify the directions in the maze? I see one opening but do not know whether it opens to East or North.
Directions:
The top of the maze is North. If the opening is to the right, you can move East, on the bottom of the square is South. West is the left side.
So from the starting position you have the options of East or South depending on your individual maze.
Do not understand what is meant by "Read a book shelved (listed on the first page on GR) as first-reads - plurals and spelling acceptable"
Need some links for books shelved as first reads. I tried using the search key words as 'first reads' but landed with more than 20 pages of various lists which do not even resemble 'first reads'. I do not know what I am missing here. Further, can't understand what is meant by "plurals and spelling acceptable".
On the right hand side of the books page is their main genres. At the bottom is a link for top shelves. If you click there it takes you to the first page of tags. Searching through can sometimes get what you want, otherwise you can click on one of the shelves and edit the url to the tag you are looking for.
Plurals - for first reads tag you could also use first read (ie changing from plural to single or vice versa).
Spelling - colour vs color etc when there are variations across languages or mistypes on people's shelves.
Is lion shifter acceptable for the lion task? I think I may have one of those...
I'm feeling generous so shifters will be allowed.
I cannot find a book that has 2004 as a top shelf listed on the first page. Can anyone else? Can I instead choose a book that was published in 2004? Or is on a list marked 2004?
Remember that the top shelf includes the first page of tags, not just the book's main page. Going by published dates or presence on a list doesn't meet the task.
Regarding the isbn tasks- when searching my books there are two searchable isbn options. Isbn and isbn13. American books tend to have 13 numbers in the isbn, so that is what I assume I would search. Is that correct?
Whichever your copy of the book has; I don't think the tasks specify one over the other.
Read a book with fairies... Do they have to be referred to by that spelling? Or would Faeries work? Weird question but books do generally make a distinction about it, especially UF Faeries.
If they are recognisably fairies (even if called a variant i.e. Fae or Faeries) that's fine. The same goes for Vamphires etc.

The ancient Greeks are known for their tragedies and no tragedy is complete without a good monster. For good to triumph and a Hero born, there first must be an evil to vanquish and a wrong to right.
Teams will have the option of defeating monsters by completing a set of tasks for bonus points in this mini challenge. Each team will start off with 5 monsters selected at random. When a monster has been defeated, captains may request a new monster be assigned for additional points.

1.) Each monster has a set of required tasks that must be completed in order to vanquish the monster.
2.) Tasks include a required page range for one book used to defeat the monster. The range is based on the assigned difficulty level of the monster to represent a monster's hit points. Only one book used to defeat the monster needs to be in this required page range. Books used for other tasks for the monster can be of any length that still meet general TT game play requirements.
3.) Books can be used to complete more than one task, but only for the same monster. If you can find a single book that meets all five tasks, congratulations, you defeated the monster with just one book! Expect other teams to notice this and copy your choice ;)
4.) Teams can have up to 5 monsters to vanquish at any time.
5.) Once a monster is vanquished and logged on the official team spreadsheet, captains may request a new monster in the captain's group. New monsters will only be assigned if requested by team's captains.
6.) Monsters are assigned at random and may be repeated by the same team. There are no re-spins allowed.
7.) We like players to be creative, that's what makes this fun. However, please do not hurt yourself over thinking the tasks. If you aren't sure a book works for a task, ask your team. If there still is some indecision, your captains can ask within the captain's group. Decisions made in the captain's group are final.
8.) Books used may be started at any point during TT but cannot be finished before the start of the mini challenge. Books used for this must be completed by the end of the mini challenge timeframe.
9.) Books used for this mini challenge cannot be used for other mini challenges.
10.) The official start of the Monster Mini Challenge is June 15, 9pm GMT+1 and runs until July 15th, 9pm GMT +1. Countdown clock to mini challenge start: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
11.) Once you vanquish a monster and log it on your official spreadsheet it should be considered locked and you cannot swap out books.
12.) 'Banking books' is allowed. As long as books meet general TT requirements, not used for the maze, and are finished after the start of this mini challenge, they can be used for any monster.
Example: Judith finishes a book on June 18 that was not used for the maze. A new monster is assigned to Team Pandora on June 20. Judith's book from June 18th is used to complete a task for the new monster.

1.) Each completed task required for defeating the monster is worth 5 points.
2.) Vanquishing the monster is worth an additional 15 points.
Note about spreadsheet entry:
If you use a book for multiple tasks on the same monster, each task needs to be entered on a separate row. Please only enter the page numbers and correct Reader for the first row. Page numbers should be blank for multiple rows. For Reader name, either leave it blank or add a period, space, etc after their name. If you use the name from the drop down menu for multiple rows for the same book, it will count it multiple times towards your book cap.

Below is the randomizing wheel that either a mod or captain from a different team can spin for you if your team needs a new monster to replace a vanquished one. Monsters can be repeated and no respins to replace a monster you don't like.

Below is a link to a spreadsheet of potential monsters, assigned difficulty level/hit points, and additional tasks required to vanquish each monster.

"Sing, O Muse, of the rage of Tower Teams"*
*with apologies to Homer
This challenge is based on Battleships, and run between the three supergroups, the Trojans, the Aegeans and the Mythics.
There are three supergroups so we'll be fighting in a circle:
The Aegeans will be firing on the Trojans
The Trojans will be firing on the Mythics
The Mythics will be firing on the Aegeans
Each supergroup will nominate one General, who will be responsible for announcing the planned attacks and confirming hit or miss information.
Timings
This challenge will start at 9pm UK 1 July, and run to the end of the challenge - 6 weeks.
Only books started after the start of the mini challenge can be used.
Books used in Trojan Warships can't be used for any other mini.
Books must meet all other TT rules.
For the avoidance of doubt, Top Shelves means the first page of "more shelves" linked from the main page of a book. This is a list of up to 100tags. Embedded (eg Romance > Regency) are acceptable.

Set-Up
The groups will be given their grid of the battlefield as well as their fighter groups and will populate it with their fighters:
1 Pikestaff Group (5 squares)
1 Archer Group (4 squares)
2 Sword Fighter Group (3 squares)
3 Chariot (2 sqaures)
4 Warrior (1 square)
Note that the fighters can only be placed horizontally or vertically within the battlefield, not diagonally, can't wrap around the edge and can't overlap another group (hint: think if your positioning would be valid in Battleships. If it isn't valid for Battleships it isn't valid here!)
Each fighter group will have Top Shelves s assigned to them, which will be randomised for each team (see the possibilities under the spoiler lower down).
For instance, the Trojans might have a Pikestaff Group made up of
- Classics
- Urban Fantasy
- Romance
- Romance
- Contemporary
Whilst the Aegeans Pikestaff Group is
- Horror
- Young Adult
- Contemporary
- Science Fiction
- Humour
What does this mean? That you'll have scattered your fighters across the battlefield, so some squares will be empty but others - with fighters on - now have an Top Shelf assigned to them.
Once teams have finalised their battlefield they'll send a screenshot of it to the Mod Account, to be a reference for the end of the game.
Here's an example:

Attack Cycles
There will be six attack cycles of one week each. Teams can launch 10 attacks each cycle, and read a maximum of 20 books each week (10 for each game they are in)
At the start of each attack cycle the attacking general will notify their opponent of the grid co-ordinates they are targeting. The defending general will confirm which co-ordinates are misses and which are hits, confirming the MPGs of the hit co-ordinates.
For example, the attacking team targets:
A1; B2; C3; D4: E5; F6; G7; H8, I9, J10.
The defending team will confirm the outcomes:
From the example above, the following are misses: A1; C3; D4; E5; F6; H8, J10.
They will report the hits as: B2 - Golden Age; G7 - Nature; I9 - MM.

Teams can now decide how they want to read!
In order to capitalise on a hit, the attackers must read book(s) with the genre of the target.
In order to defend the hit, the defenders must read book(s) with the genre of the target.
For misses, the teams can read in accordance with their preferred strategy, putting the book to attack, defence or into the bank.
At the end of the attack cycle, the teams will report on how many books they fired at / used to defend the target. The team with the higher number of books will win the square for that round. If the teams use an equal number of books then a coin toss will be run by a captain of the Gods team to decide the outcome.
Squares that have been successfully defended can still be re-attacked, after a delay of one attack cycle.
For instance, in Round 1 the attacking team launches 2 books at target B2, 2 books at target G7 and 5 books at target 19. They bank one book.
The defending team assign three books to each target and bank one book.
The end result is that the defending team successfully protect targets B2 and G7, but do not protect I9.
B2 and G7 cannot be reattacked until Round 3.

Points
For each successful attack or defence the supergroup team gets 5 points.
For each completely defeated piece the attacking supergroup team gets 10 points.
For each book read, the reader's team will get 5 points (mark B in the mini code column)
Banked Books
Teams can chose to bank a book from one round to be used in a later round.
To bank a book the team will lock in 5 Top Shelves associated with the book. These Top Shelves cannot be changed after the end of the round in which it was read. Specifically, they must be locked BEFORE any targeting is made for the next round.
For example, the team reads The Iliad, and banks it with the MPGs: Classics, Fantasy, War, Historical Fiction and Epic.
It can thus be used in defence of target H2, and in an attack on a target with any of those locked Top Shelves.
To use a banked book in an attack, it must be fired at a target that matches one of its locked genres, and MUST be fired with a partner book of the same Top Shelf read in the round in which it is used. You can have any number of banked books in an attack, provided there is one new book with them.
Similarly, to used a banked book in a defence, it must used in defence of a target that matches one of its locked genres and be partnered with a book of the same Top Shelf read in the round in which it is used. You can have any number of banked books in a defence, provided there is a new book with them.
Genres in the randomiser are beneath the spoiler:(view spoiler)

Reporting and Recording
Threads will be set up for each battle, where teams will report the activities and books used.
Start of the Attack Cycle
- Attack team lists the target grid references
- Defence team confirms misses and hits with MPG requirements
End of the Attack Cycle
- Attack team confirms the books used to attack each hit target, with links to the books used to verify Top Shelves
- Attack team confirms the number of books to be banked, but no details on the book information needed
- Defence team confirms the books used to defend each target, with links to the books used to verify Top Shelves
- Defence team confirms the number of books to be banked, but no details on the book information needed
- Teams agree who won against each target in contention, Defence team confirms if a piece has been completely defeated
For rounds 2 onwards the target information for the next round must be posted before the results of books read are posted.

The Muses have been having a wonderful time watching everyone getting lost in their maze, fighting the sudden onslaught of monsters that overtook NBRC and are watching the supergroup battles with their hearts in their mouths and their hands covering their eyes. They have been kept beautifully entertained, but now it’s time to see whether any of their inspiration has rubbed off onto the teams.
Thalia

The muse of comedy needs a laugh. Using book titles, it is time to write a comedy. Anything that makes you laugh goes.
You can use a maximum of 20 book titles.
Melpomene

After reading your comedies inspired by Thalia, Melpomene appears and everything takes a darker turn. As muse of Tragedy, she has your team holding you head in our hands as you write a tragedy using book titles.
You can use a maximum of 20 book titles.
Urania

Also known as the muse of mathematics, Urania feels there has been a lack of numbers in this TT. It’s time to make chains of sequential series numbers to placate her.
Your chains must contain at least 4 books and you can use up to 16 books in this section.
Polyhymnia

Numbers don’t interest Polyhymnia as much as they do Urania, but geometry and shapes certainly catch her eye. To pay homage to this muse, we’d like you to create 3 title squares (I.e. 12 books).
The book along the top and down the left edge should share the 1st letter. The book along the top’s last letter should match the right hand edge’s 1st letter.
The book along the bottom should have the same 1st letter as the last letter of the book on the left and a matching last letter with the book on right.
Erato

Erato wants to feel the love and the romance. She’s quite traditional so polyamory isn’t her thing. Instead she’d like 10 pairs of books. How you create your pairs is up to you, but creativity is to be applauded.
Possible examples include a pair where one book has a dog on the cover and the other a cat; books where the authors initials are the reverse of each other; identical covers.
Calliope

Sometimes thought of as the leader of the muses, Calliope would like to see a demonstration of team work. To do this you can read books read by a team member during the challenge. A maximum of 16 books can be used here.
Clio

The muses of history would like you to look back in time. As far back as your tbr will allow. Now is the time to stop being distracted by shiny and new, and instead appease Clio by reading books that have been languishing on your tbr shelf. She is only interested if it has been there longer than a year though. Between your team you can read 16 books for Clio.
Euterpe

You have all been doing a great job finding musical instruments for the muse of music, song and flute playing. She wants to throw a concert to celebrate the end of Tower Teams. Please find her 8 books with instruments on the cover or in the text to create your band or orchestra and 8 books that have song lyrics or poems quoted within the story for the playlist.
16 books in total should be used to put on your concert.
Terpsichore

What event would be complete without a ball being thrown. The muse of choral lyrics and dancing is hoping that she has given you enough inspiration for a wonderful evening to be held in honour of you all and the work you have put into creating your book towers.
Every ball needs guests in fancy outfits, which can be found on the covers of books (12 books).
The food and drink are another key component; anyone for fish and chips (with vinegar)? To cater for your ball, use words from your books. Up to 12 books can be used. Points will be awarded per book but if you want to use more than one food item from each you can.
Finally you need to pick the setting for your ball. This should be created from items on the cover of your books (6 books).
Rules
Each book can only be used for 1 task in this mini challenge.
We like players to be creative, that's what makes this fun. However, please do not hurt yourself over thinking the tasks. If you aren't sure a book works for a task, ask your team. If there still is some indecision, your captains can ask within the captain's group. Decisions made in the captain's group are final.
Books used may be started at any point during TT but cannot be finished before the start of the mini challenge. Books used for this must be completed by the end of the mini challenge timeframe. This mini challenge starts on 15th July at 9pm GMT.
Books used for this mini challenge cannot be used for other mini challenges.

What are Tower Teams?
Essentially it is small groups of members in a team who read and discuss books, record them for "points" in order to compete against other teams.
It doesn't matter if your yearly goal is to read five (5) books, fifty (50) books or five-hundred (500) books. Anyone can join! We balance the Tower Teams Reading Challenge by Total Books read.
IMPORTANT
This is NOT a read-a-thon and WILL go for a few weeks, so please only sign-up if you are a consistent goodreads user and are willing to discuss books with your team mates over a period of a few months. Unlike our other team challenges, the Tower Teams Challenge is a marathon, not a sprint!
Goal: Read! Read! Read!
When: Starts May 15th, at 9 PM London UK (BST) and goes for 3 months, ending on August 15th.
How: We will take all the people who sign-up and divide them equally - by book goal - into SMALLER groups, taking into account the number of books they read per week. Otherwise we will be using a "randomizer" to assign.
Challenge requirements
To be a part of this challenge you need to be able to:
◈ Create a special shelf for the challenge for the books you are reading
◈ Check-in on your team's discussion thread at least once per week
◈ Have fun!
