Caraval Conversation discussion

I have to say I was nervous about reading Stephanie Garber's new book because I loved Caraval so much. However, I was not disappointed! I am so happy Stephanie took us back into the world I love with the character I love, Jacks. Jacks and his apples and his trickery are some things I will never get over. Every time I think he has changed; he really is the same and I love that about him. He always keeps me guessing.
Was it just me or did you get really excited when Scarlett and Tella entered the story as empress and princess? It was like seeing good friends after not seeing them for a long time. Even if they were only minor characters, I love that Stephanie gave us a glimpse of their lives after Finale. I always miss not learning anything new about my favorite characters after a book or series end, so this was such a nice bonus.
I have to say that I am looking forward to the next book and may have already preordered it. (I may not be upset about it, but wallet definitely is)

What really made me go "what the heck" was when Evangeline talked about feeling Jacks' heartbeat and acted like that was normal! I had to reread it like 5 times because I could not believe she did not realize anything weird about it. She just went about like Jacks was a human with a beating heart, not a Fate who is supposed to have no heart. I want to say his heart started beating because Evangeline is his one true love, but Tella was his one true love. Can he have two "one true loves"? I have a feeling we are going to learn about this in the next book, but right now, I can't help but be baffled.

I bought the Barns & Nobels edition that has this interview with jacks and in the interview it mentions something about Donatella recently being kidnapped by her lover! I have no idea why that was mentioned.. but who knows maybe we’ll we more legend and Tella 🤷‍♀️

I love Once Upon A Broken Heart. Jacks is my absolute favorite character so i definitely loved seeing him so much.

Eager to read it. Recently preordered the second book!
