Sara Jesus (scjesus) | 143 comments I really like the book. I learn some interesting facts about Mexico. I love the parts about Diego Rivera e Frida. And the format is actually very different that I normally read, but I thought fascinating the diaries and the letters. The letters between the main character and Frida were really sweet. I really love they friendship.

K (billielitetiger) Thanks to whomever nominated this book. I just loved it! Like Sara said, the friendship(s) and sharing, both in letters & conversations are great.Shepard's relationship w/Violet Brown was good, too. (Where are these folks IRL?LOL! Lately I'm experiencing the "othering" more like being before the Congressional Committee.)

Also learned what was going on in Mexico during the 1930s-50s,had no idea.

Anna (gohomeannakin) | 2 comments I found in interesting from the perspective of a history buff, but toward the end I was not sure why I was still reading. The writing style was good, so no problem there. Just didn't really find myself interested in the narrators. I also prefer when the ideology behind a book is a little less transparent. Otherwise it's just a bunch of boring, repetitive, and unrealistic conversations.
