This is a pleasant light historical fiction book set in England during the War. It took a few tries to get interested, but I liked it enough when I finally got into it. This is lighter and gentler than a lot of WWII stories involving espionage. My favorite part of the story was that two childhood friends ended up working together to investigate a domestic espionage case. (One was a woman, and the other was a man with an injury that prevented him from fighting). Some aspects of the story made no sense, and much of action was watered down, especially compared to other books I've read about this period.
In general, I would rather read historical fiction than a detective series, but in the case of this author, it's the opposite. I liked the first book in the Molly Murphy detective series more than this book.
