Lauren | 1368 comments I feel like I've read all the books on cheaters. I'm hoping I missed some . I know I must have daddy issues but I like an evil ow waiting in the wings. Any recommendations ???

Missy | 1477 comments Yesterday, I read a book review where the hero has two mistresses and is married to the heroine. I'll see if I can find the book.

Edit: No luck. Sorry! 😢 Now, it's going to bug me!

message 3: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 449 comments Isnt there a trilogy where the duke/ ealr has married 3 women and he dies and the heas of his 3 wives?

Have you read Private Arrangements? They both cheat but are estranged. It is more of an other man situation though.

Confessions of an Improper Bride & Pleasures of a Tempted Lady - they’re an OW factor in this series. I don’t want to give anything away but you might like.

There’s also a weird situation A Hint of Wicked in but again more of a other man one.

I do think this will be more of a books to avoid thread for many, lol

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1215 comments Do they get their comeuppance in the end?

I agree

message 8: by Lauren (last edited Apr 20, 2022 06:29AM) (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 584 comments This is a trope that I tend to avoid like the plague and often end up DNFing the book.

These are some that I've finished:

The Day of the Duchess - The hero (view spoiler) These events take place in an earlier book in the series The Rogue Not Taken

The Charm School - this is more a "feels like cheating" situation than actual cheating as (view spoiler)

The Taming - for some reason, I liked this one. Need to do a re-read.

Once and Always - again, not an actual cheating situation.

The Ugly Duchess - H/h are apart for years and he cheats.

Dreaming of You - IIRC, hero (view spoiler) 🤦‍♀️

message 9: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1368 comments I hope you find it Missy.:( It actually sounds right up my alley.

Leanne, are you thinking about A Duke In Tme by Janna McGregor? I read the 1st book.

message 10: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1368 comments Confessions of an Improper Bride looks good! Does she keep the act up through the whole book?

The Rake's Rainbow looks interesting.

message 11: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1368 comments Shaz, they don't have to get their comeuppance but that is always a nice treat :)

message 12: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1368 comments thanks Lauren for the suggestion:) Once And Always is a personal favorite of mine.

message 13: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1368 comments Joanna, I agree this could also be a list of what not to read. I use to hate cheaters!

Debby *BabyDee* | 812 comments @Leena, the triology is by Janna MacGregor and it is called The Widow Rules Series

This is the series where the husband marries three women and they have to find out who he married first and if the one who has conceived has a legitimate heir.

Where There's a Will

A Duke in Time

Rules for Engaging the Earl

I hate cheating, but I enjoyed this trilogy. After all, the cheater is dead and not the true hero in any of these ladies' lives.

Joanna - yep, books to avoid for me!

This actually sounds really good.

message 19: by Missy (new)

Missy | 1477 comments @Leena, Jess Michaels has a series called The Three Mrs, where three heroines were married to the same man (not the hero) who is murdered.

The Unexpected Wife
The Defiant Wife
The Duke’s Wife

Yes, I believe so. It’s been a while since I read so I don’t recall exactly. I am not sure if it’s quite what you’re looking for either, but there’s certainly some complicated relationships going on.

Is this usual? I have already read books where before the couple is HEA the guy (ahhhh, always the guy :D!!!!) "cheats" the heroine but I think when they are together I don't remember. And this cheating it's not technically cheating, right?

message 22: by Leena (new)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 449 comments @ Missy, yes I believe that's the series.

message 23: by Jultri (last edited Apr 24, 2022 05:35PM) (new)

Jultri | 409 comments Unforgivable
The Book of Scandal
A Duchess in Name
Rebel

The first three, I actually enjoyed the angst and felt the heroes redeemed themselves. Rebel made me angry, so much so that I could not bring myself to read the OW's book next up, even though I read the rest of the series. There are other books that I could not finish, because cheating heroes and doormat heroines do not make good reading for me.

message 24: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1368 comments Thanks everybody! i appreciate everybody's rec. Unfortunately, I've read most of them :(

message 25: by Lauren (new)

I presume you have read the House of Rohan series by Anne Stuart. I can't remember whether they involved cheating but the Heros in these books are very bad. 'Breathless' in particular - I loved it but he was utterly despicable and I felt very conflicted trying to reconcile my enjoyment of the book with his behaviour.

I've read the first two and there is no cheating although they are very terribly "bad boy" heroes.

Lauren | 1368 comments Darbella, I hope you enjoy!

Susan, like you, I couldn't remember if there was cheating. I stopped @ Breathless. But I think your right Lauren! Just bad boy Rakes.

Hi Lauren,I am not sure I have read many on this category but on the top of my head,I really liked Number 4 of Domestic Discipline
Claiming His Wife
The couple is married but estranged and they cheat on each other. However I would not recommend it as a standalone. You can still go for it but it makes much more sense if you have read the other ones as well.
Birching his Bride
Dealing with Discipline
Punishing His Ward
Quite steamy mind you, maybe also under erotica territory?

message 45: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1368 comments Aren't most of Golden Angel's book about spanking? Not my type of books but I'm glad you added it . I know several people who love them, so thank you for adding them. I might try one or two myself ;)

message 46: by Amy (new)

Amy Malory (vivienne90) | 101 comments Haha yes they are,and it does get too much if you read 4 in a row.Maybe you can just try the 4rth one directly if you are opting for only 1.I did enjoy the whole series though.I was skipping the spanking parts when it got too repetitive. Number 4 was the best in my opinion

message 47: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1368 comments I actually bought Phillip's Rules a year ago, so I might try that book.
