COMPLETION POST:
The mods are going to be needing this from every participant for every book they finish for us to be able to track everything better. Only books that have a completion post will be considered for scoring points. Here is the template:
Title:
Author:
Start Date:
Finish Date:
Category and task: (only one task per book read)
Graphic Novel? (Yes or no)
Buddy Read? (Yes or no)
Group Read? (Yes or no)
Pages: (if a graphic novel, please post original and halved numbers)
Review: [link of your review]
Please ensure you include the category and task number. It really helps us when we input into our master spreadsheet <3

So excited to get started in a few days! I made a (tentative) TBR this morning with a book option for almost every category, so I'll drop that below. If anyone wants to buddy read, please let me know! Especially if a book could count for more than one category, so we can double up on points. Work smarter, not harder 😎
I'm sure I won't read all of these, but most are pulled from my TBR cart. I use that as my priority stack, so I really want to get through a ton of these! These games are a great motivator!

WOW that's really great!!!! excited to participate in this challenge :)

That sounds perfect! There are 23 chapters + a prologue, so really broken down into 24 sections. Do you have a preferred reading pace? I'm typically a pretty fast reader, but I have the feeling this one will take me a WHILE given everything I've heard about it.

I would like to read Anatomy with you :)

Anatomy is actually a group read for May so we will both get even more points! Yayyyyy!

I really want to read 'A Marvellous Light' and 'Plain Bad Heroines' though! :)

@mina Thanks for clarifying! I was reading the first message on my phone, and it only showed the first line of the first category. Opened on my laptop, and I can see the rest of the post now. I told you I'm new here! lol

I think that's perfect! I will submit the calendar in the buddy read nominations thread so a mod can make our thread for us :)

Here's my plan (even if I don't have anything after it, doesn't mean I don't have some ideas of what to read, maybe too many ideas)....

I'm so happy so see you all talking and coordinating plans! You are all off to a great start. I do have a couple of notes/best practices before we kick off.
1. To see everything in the thread, use your internet browser not the app. The phone app cuts off comments.
2. Aless has set up discord channels for each team for your use. If you're not a discord fan, I recommend creating an Instagram chat group with all of your teammates for faster communication.
https://discord.com/invite/3hBXPyt2Fa
3. Buddy and Group Reads:
Like last year, we are expecting participation beyond "the book was good" for Buddy and Group reads to count. Mina puts a lot of time into creating the threads.
With that being said, anyone can participate in an open Buddy Read without being added as a participant. If there is no meaningful participation, it will not count.
If your buddy is not participating, that's okay, it happens. Continue to comment in the Buddy Read thread. We will count it for the participating member.
Lastly, I'm so happy that you all are requesting BRs to be made—but please don't expect them to be instantaneous. Please allow up to three days for the threads to be created.
If you have any questions, please continue to address them in the Sign Up thread—it's easier for us to catch that way.
Thank you all for joining us for Spring Fling—I hope you all have a lot of fun!

1. Read a book with an animal in title or on the cover Before the Coffee Gets Cold: Tales from the Café

3. Read a book on Rory Gilmore's reading list (https://www.julesbuono.com/rory-gilmo...) Frankenstein: The 1818 Text
Jingle Bell Rock
5. Read a cozy mystery Four Aunties and a Wedding
Ex-Wives
3. Read a Goodreads choice winner/nominee Luster
4. Read a book published before 1900 Wuthering Heights
So Fetch
1. Read a book with flowers in the title or cover (or a type of flower in the title) Small Pleasures

3. Read a Stonewall Book Award (https://www.ala.org/rt/rrt/award/ston...) or Lambda Literary Award (https://lambdaliterary.org/awards/pre...) winner or nominee. On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous

Okay good! I knew I was in the group but I just wanted to double check I was in the team since goodreads is a bit slow at updating on my device and glitches from time to time 😅 in fact it wouldn't actually let me reply to your comment directly so I hope you see this :)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I am generally not a fan of rock music so I didn't like this as much as I hoped to, all that music talk wasn't really for me. I did enjoy the interview writing style though because we got to know what was going on in everyone's head at any point of time so that made it really enjoyable for me. All in all, it was a goood book but much my choice of genre for sure

Good job being the first to finish a book in your group, Kira!!! One quick thing, tho, the page count halving is only applicable to graphic novels but you still have to put what the page count is for the edition you read. Did you read the hardcover? I cannot count your points until I know the page count, and I really want to! :)

Spring Fling starts May 1st and ends June 30th.
RULES
✧ Books must be read and reviewed during May 1st through June 30th. Any books or audiobooks started before May 1st or finished after June 30th will not count.
✧ If you read an Audiobook version of a book convert the hours to pages using this site: https://alamantus.itch.io/time-to-page or use the print equivalent on Goodreads.
✧ Graphic/Manga novels are accepted but will only count for half of the listed page count
✧ You must post at least 3 status updates OR a review. It doesn't have to be super detailed but try to not just say "this was good" for the book to count.
✧ For prompts: if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit, and it will not count.
✧ Minimum Lengths:
• Books: 150 pages
• Graphic Novels: 200 pages (halved=100 pages)
• Audiobooks: 150 pages (use GR print equivalent length)
POINT SYSTEM
+1 point for every book that has been read and reviewed that correlates with a prompt
+2 points for participating in a buddy read (must take place in the group)
+3 for one completed category
+4 points for reading/participating in a group read (must take place in the group)
+5 points for every 1,000 pages read
Note: Mods keep track of all points in a shared Google Sheets spread to keep everything as organized as possible.
Note 2: You must actively participate in a buddy or group read for the points to count. Lack of participation means no points!
