Hey guys! There will be a buddy read for The Passage by Justin Cronin in August! This is the first book in a trilogy and we will read one each month.

This is one of my favorite series! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.

I'll see how my schedule is till then, but maybe I'll give this one another try. First time around I didn’t finish it, so we'll see.

I may hop on this. I have a copy. It will depend on my availability come August, but I’m definitely interested. So count me as a strong maybe.

I think the TV show was great! It's why I read this & the 2nd book a few years ago.

TV Show: The Passage 2019 1 season. Was on Fox. It's on tubi currently. It should totally be free on Hulu, but whatevs.

I have to admit that this was a very rare DNF for me. I got more than 1/2 way and just didn’t keep going. It was a couple of years ago so I can’t remember why it didn’t grab me. I’ll be interested to see what you all think.

I’ll be starting this tonight. I’m on vacation starting tomorrow for a week and a half. You never know with vacations though. I could have a ton of time for this or no time. We’ll see. Ha ha.

I pretty much forgot everything about this book but I am remembering why I gave it 5 stars. It’s so good.

I’ve reached Part 4- I really loved the first parts of this book and I was getting strong The Stand vibes. Now it feels I’m reading an entirely different book.

I finished it in the car yesterday. Wow, I forgot so much of this book and it’s so good. I’m excited to get to the second one. We were up in Tahoe for a week and I had crap reception and the campsite we were at had horrible Wi-Fi. I would have finished it faster but I was having a hard time getting my phone to play the audio even though I’d already downloaded it from the library before we left. My phone is also old and I need a new one but phones are to expensive. Ha ha. I’m keeping this one until it stops turning on.

I know I read the first and second books before the third book came out and then just never got back to the third book so I don’t know how this trilogy ends nor would I remember if I did. I’m finding my memory on books is trash…I guess it’s kinda nice as I can read my favorites over and over like they’re new. 🤔

Emilie - the comparison to The Stand is pretty spot on.

I really enjoyed this trilogy. I hope you all end up liking it as much as I did.

I ended up winning this title off of Goodreads Giveaways quite a few years ago and right after I did, Justin Cronin did a book signing at Powells books in Portland Oregon. Talk about timing, and I did read this one before the signing, so it was fun chatting about the book with him and other fans. Anyone reading it in this group should have a fun time with this title. I will definitely pop in to see how everyone is enjoying this.

Well- just finished. This one started off strong for me, and then dragged a bit when it reached Part 4 on. The last revelation though (view spoiler)[ that Peter is Wolgast (hide spoiler)] has me scratching my head (view spoiler)[ how is that even possible? (hide spoiler)] I think I will continue this to read it with you guys. I'll start the second sometime in September.

I thought the show was pretty good too.

Emilie - it did have some slow points but I was totally into these new creatures. I remember chatting with Justin about his world building and wondered if the other books in the series may end up with a world looking more like the one in the shows on the Discovery Channel called Earth After Man, where everything we've built starts to crumble and fall apart...like dams and the power grids.
