NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11067 comments Shea Collins was a crime victim as a child, and she now has a popular true crime blog called The Book of Cold Cases. While working at her day job, Shea spots wealthy Beth Greer, who was tried but acquitted of a series of famous crimes 40 years ago. With the help of a detective who knows them both, Beth agrees to be interviewed by Shea for her blog. Shea tries to learn the truth from the charming and manipulative Beth, about these murders and other crimes. Shea discovers the ghostly influences in the mansion that have kept Beth tied to the house for all these years.

The book is smart, spooky and full of suspense. The main characters were well drawn, and I enjoyed the psychological developments in the story. I also really liked two of the (male) supporting characters, a police detective and a private detective. Overall the story was very well done. It was complex, sometimes confusing, and the supernatural aspects of the story were quite thought provoking.

Jgrace | 3937 comments Darn! I meant to read this in April but I didn't get to it. Do you think it's a character driven book?

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11067 comments I didn't see any character driven tags. The characters are certainly interesting, but it had a strong plot to drive the story. Sometimes it seemed like the house was driving the action.

Jgrace | 3937 comments Maybe the house is a character ?

I'm not sure I'd get around to it this month anyway. But I'm glad to see a good review of it. Thanks.
