We have another visual poem! Can Acevedo pull off another win?

Brittin (brittsc) | 40 comments This is a very quick read that leaves a lasting impression and holds up to re-readings, especially when you go back to thoroughly examine the illustrations. I definitely feel like it is a powerful book that will make a splash with reviewers and awards commitees. At my library we debated where to shelve it, as it could have a wide audience. Which makes me wonder if it will be considered for a variety of awards in addition to Printz.

John Driscoll | 4 comments I read it just now after our Tech Services manager brought it over to me. It was ordered as YA but seems to me like it could easily be read by younger children. I thought Inheritance was excellent but I'd support it for the Newbery or even Caldecott before the Printz.

Heather | 50 comments It's good, but I have a hard time seeing how a single poem would beat out whole books and poetry anthologies (feel the same about the Jason Reynolds one).

Anne Bennett (headfullofbooks) | 81 comments I found this to be very powerful. But does it contain enough to qualify? Not sure.
