Peregrina651 (peregrina651peregrinations) | 130 comments THANKS for the thread!

This has nothing to do with the plot of the book but more to do with language and usage and regionalisms.

Early on in the book there is a very short scene between Dorothy and Nick. It takes place in the Charles' hotel suite.

Dorothy is about to go make herself a drink. As she is walking out of the room, she turns to Nick and asks if she should bring a drink for him as well. Nick replies, "Thanks" and the scene ends.

Based solely on Nick's one word response, did Dorothy bring him a drink or not? Yes or no?

Definitely regionalism. I grew up in that area and the thanks means a yes.
