Hi !I hate Amazon too but I don’t understand, what’s the link between amazon and good reads ?
Amazon owns goodreads 🙂 they use the data they can collect here to push certain books etc....
just today I was watching a video by a YouTuber I like very much, I will add the link below, about "How to break up with Amazon". I think most of us know just how bad Amazon and a lot of the founder's actions have been for the environment, people and the economy (especially smaller bookstores etc.). Personally, I have decided to stop using goodreads because of that, it feels so "icky" to me what can be done with all the data we put on this website and to support a company that devalues so many of the principles of human decency. While that is my opinion, I was wondering if there might be an option to still connect people outside of goodreads to OSS. While the platform, excuse my language, is run by a bloody shitty company, the exchange of ideas and the selected books are great, not to mention that this truly gives a great opportunity to everyone to express their views and share their stories with like-minded people without being judged. I understand the logistical difficulties of moving this entire group to a different channel, which I do not think would be feasible, but could there be a way to include members that no longer wish to partake in anything pertaining to Amazon? I look forward to suggestions and input and maybe a lively discussion?
