It's nearly June, and June is considered to be the start of Wedding Season ❤️ so June's challenge is all about a song about getting married ☺


To complete this challenge, participants will be split into teams. Each team will read books of their own choice (which fit the challenge guidelines), and points will be awarded based on the length of the book, and whether you have buddy-read your book.
Bonus points can also be earned by completing words of the song 'Marry You' by Bruno Mars ☺

This song is made up of 78 different 2+ letter long words (see message 3 below). Your task is to read books to cross off each of these words, simply by reading a book which has one of the letters found in that word in the title/series name/author name(s) of your chosen book.

For example:

To complete the word 'night' all you would need to do is read a book which has any one of those 5 letters (N, or I, or G, or H, or T) anywhere in the title/series name/author name(s) of your chosen book.
Eg: ,
- Please note - you only need to find one of the letters in the word, not all of them. (If they are all there, that isn't a problem either).


So, the idea is...

* Read a book that has a letter that appears in the word you are trying to complete, anywhere in the title/series name/author name(s) of your chosen book.
-Please note you only need to find one of the letters in the word, not all of them.
* Post your book/review on your team review thread, letting us know which word you are completing.
* A mod will check your review, and mark that word as completed, by noting the message number your review is posted in, below the description number on the grid. For this reason please only post one review per message.
* For every book which completes a word, you will earn bonus points equal to page points earned for that book.
* For every 6 words completed, your team will receive 12 team bonus points.
* Once all 78 words are completed, your team will receive a further 44 bonus points.
* Completed boards will earn in total, (12*13) + 44 = 200 points
* You can also earn some Hermione Bonus Points by reading books which are over 600 pages long (Equal to the number of page points you earn for your book - see points below).
* The minimum page counts needed for completing descriptions are the same as those for page points (please see message 4 below).
* Books started before June, and unfinished books may be used, as long as you have still read the minimum number of pages for points in June.

Points:
* Points will be given for pages read between the 1st of June and the 30th of June 2022 inclusive. We will check your dates read when we check your review.

* Books started before June, and unfinished books may be used, but you will only earn points for pages read in June. Please let us know how many pages you have read in June when posting your review.

Types of Books + Page Counts + Points:
* The minimum page counts needed for both page points and completing descriptions are:
~ Adult/YA without illustrations = 50 pages
~ Middle-grade/children's books without illustrations = 75 pages
~ Manga, graphic novels, plays, poetry, and books written in verse = 150 pages
-- Books which are mainly illustrations, such as some children's books, picture books, and some non-fiction books etc. cannot be used as part of this challenge.

* Please let us know when posting which of these three categories your book falls into.

* Books that are tagged 'middle-grade' or 'children's' more times than they are tagged YA, will be scored at children's rates.

* Books which are illustrated, have an illustrator listed, or are tagged 'illustrated', 'Sequential Art', 'Graphic Novels', 'Comics', 'Manga', 'Poetry', 'Verse', 'Play', or words to that effect, will be scored at illustrated rates.

* Books may be added together to reach these minimums, as long as all books are under the minimum. You can't add a book to another book that is long enough to count on its own.

* There are no set books that need to be read, any book which fits within the rules will count, so books can be chosen by the reader. Please check with us before reading if you are unsure whether your book counts or not.

* Book samples may be used to earn page points, but must have a page count published on either Goodreads or Amazon to count.

* Higher page count editions may be used when claiming points for pages, but page counts for iphone/ibook/ipod/itunes editions will not be accepted, and neither will page counts for audiobook editions of any kind, or miniature versions of books such as Flipback, dwarsligger, PenguinMini (you are still welcome to read in these formats, but must use a different page count). We will also not accept a page count which is more than double the next highest for that book. * We request that you leave us a link to the edition with the page count that you are using if the book has multiple editions with different page counts.

* If you have short books which you have read and reviewed but which are not long enough to qualify for points, please post it on your team review thread, and we will make a list, and then add them together at the end (where possible).

* You are welcome to read physical books, ebooks, and audiobooks for this challenge, and you are also welcome to read in any language.

Reviews:
* A review or 4 detailed updates will be required for each book read.

* If for any reason you are unable to publish your review on Goodreads, it can also be sent to myself via personal message. Please continue to post on your team's review thread as normal, stating 'review sent to Sarah by PM' after 'Review:'.

* Please only post one review per comment on your team's review thread, unless you are adding the books together to reach a minimum page count.

* Please do not wait until the end of the challenge to post masses of reviews. This is not fair on your team or the mods who have to count the reviews. We will limit you to no more than 10 reviews in any one 24 hour period. If you post more than 10, they will not be counted.

* Reviews posted after the end of the challenge will also not be counted.

Re-Reads / Starting Again:
* Re-reads are allowed in this challenge as long as it has been at least 8 months since you last read the book (which would be before October 2021 for June 2022). We recommend that you post on your review '2022 re-read', or something to that effect so that we can easily see what your new review is.

* If you have started reading a book previously but not finished it, and want to start again from the beginning in June please let us know you have started from the beginning again when posting, to speed up the scoring process.

Buddy Reads:
* Buddy reads must take place within this group (YA Buddy Readers' Corner ♥) to gain the extra points. You can see which buddy reads are already planned each month here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

*Buddy reads must have a minimum of 4 comments to count, and comments must be detailed, and about the book. We also expect you to discuss the book with your buddies, not just post updates and leave. Comments must also be different from your review or status updates. If your buddy read comments, and your review or status updates are identical, then you will not receive points for both until they contain different details.

* You should not start a buddy read more than 7 days before the start date, or more than 14 days after the start date, or the last comment on the thread, whichever is later. If you do need to change the date, check with your buddy as they may also be able to start early/late with you.

* Please post the link to your buddy read along with the book you are reading and the start date on the 'Planned Buddy Reads' list for the correct month - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... Start Times / Timezones:
* This challenge will begin and end on Goodreads time, which is Pacific Standard Time - https://greenwichmeantime.com/time-zo... The challenge will start at 00:01 on June 1st 2022 PST, and end at 00:01 on July 1st 2022 PST.

* You are welcome to start the challenge on the 1st of the month in your own time zone, but you must also finish the challenge on your own time zone. Please let us know if you are doing this, as Goodreads may time stamp your books as being started on the last day of the previous month.

* Whilst you may start on your own timezone, the challenge will still end on Goodreads time, so even if you start late, you cannot end late.

Got a Problem?:
** Please do not go back and alter posts once they have been counted, if you need to make a change, please make a new post on your team's review thread, with a link to your original post, and then explain the change, for example; a higher page count edition has been found, or a buddy read needs to be added, and please include links. We do reserve the right to not add additional points on when posts have been amended, as it may be unclear how many points were awarded the first time.

* If you think scores aren't correct for any reason, please let us know either by posting on the review thread or sending a mod a personal message ☺

* Teams will be worked out by myself and posted before the end of the current month. Please let us know you are ready to go by commenting on your team chat thread before the challenge starts.

* If you would like to request to be with a specific person who is also taking part, please let us know when signing up and we will do our best to make that happen.

* If you sign up after teams are posted, we will try to place you on a team, but if teams are balanced that may not always be possible. You can always join a waiting list for a team, or go solo ☺

* The position you are in on the waiting list will not guarantee that you will be offered a place if one becomes available. This will be based on how strong of a reader you are seen to be. If you have read 50 books within the first 2 weeks, and the person who has dropped out would not be expected to read more than 12, then we will not offer you the place to be fair to the other teams.

★ If books are long enough to count on their own (50/75/150 pages) they will be scored on their own.
If you read two novellas of 80 pages each, you will receive a 1 in the books read column as together they are over 100 pages, and 1 page point for each (2 points total), as each book is individually long enough to earn points. This applies to all types of points.



* Individual bonus points will be awarded based on page count, the same as page points and buddy read points. So if you read a 300 page book that also has completes a description, you will receive 6 page points + 6 bonus points ☺

* Team bonus points will awarded at a rate of 12 bonus points for every 6 words completed, and 44 bonus points on completion of all words.
Total = 12 points for 13 lots of 6 words + 44 points on completion = 200 points



Hermione bonus points can be earned on books over 600 pages long, because Hermione loves a big book, and we love Hermione ❤️

Over 600 pages unillustrated book = 12 points
Over 600 pages unillustrated childrens/middle-grade book = 8 points
Over 600 pages illustrated/poetry etc. = 4 points
