Huck Flynn | 380 comments I was searching thru my old Amazon reviews recently just to remind myself about a book i reviewed many moons ago, that cropped up in an Exiles discussion, and couldn't find it. When i investigated further i found that many of my reviews had disappeared without trace, including some sizeable chunks from before 2013. I contacted 'zon online via a Chat Agent and they said they'd pass it to the appropriate person. A few days later i got an email saying my reviews had been restored and apologising for any inconvenience. On close inspection there are still gaps from 2006-2008 and 2009-2013 and i've reported this again. Anybody else experienced this? If reviews are removed for any reason do you get notified (well, obviously not in this case)? I value independent ratings like Amazon's and put a fair amount of effort into product reviews so i'm a bit peed off.

Isabella | 1367 comments I have to admit that I don't post many reviews but, yes, the odd few have disappeared without notice. The few I do post are properly considered opinions, not just quick 'I did/didn't like it'.

I haven't done anything about it even though I find it annoying, especially when Amazon actually solicit reviews through email and Alexa.

Craig White | 6727 comments mine are all there, all 607 of the *******! even if a product is no longer available, the review is still included to view on my listings.

Huck Flynn | 380 comments That's interesting. Mine are also carefully considered, whether positive or negative and, at times, garner a lot of "Helpful" votes. Amazon have not been able, or prepared, to explain why it has happened. I regularly look at reviews before a purchase and check out the low 1 and 2 star reviews as well as the positives, even when many of them say rather unhelpful things like "Package damaged" or "Wrong size" or "Rubbish"

Huck Flynn | 380 comments A number of emails back and forth with Amazon - when i reported reviews still missing i was asked to list specific examples !!! I was able to tell them of 3 - a DVD, a CD and a book. They came back and said they hadn't been able to find them! When i challenged them to explain how reviews can disappear they said it sometimes took a while for reviews to appear !!!! I complained more strongly and said they had appeared and then disappeared again. I asked what the policy was for removing reviews and they said if they failed to meet guidelines. I racked my brain for reviews i had posted that i knew had got lots of Helpful votes and sent them 3 more examples with product codes. This time i got a reply apologising for the disappearance and assuring me that the missing reviews had been reinstated and would appear within 24 hours. When i checked a few days later, they appear to have come back - my review count had risen from 140 to about 340 - so 200 had been "mislaid". When i contacted them to confirm the reappearance i asked them to explain what had happened. They responded to say, in essence, they didn't want to talk about it and from their point of view the issue was now closed. Humph !
