For over sixty years, Vince believed that Charlotte married him because she was pregnant and her first husband James was her number one love. How did he not know the truth?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments Charlie and Vince never really spoke about James. It seems Vince was afraid she would confirm that he was her consolation prize after losing James. It's a shame as if he had opened up to her, she would have told him just how much she loved him.

After I gave it some thought, it made sense that Vince would never, ever bring it up and Charlie was clueless about his feelings. She never knew he thought she only married him because she was pregnant. I love how it was revealed so publicly. Vince deserved that moment.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments It was sad that Vince felt like the second choice for so many years. I understand why he never talked to Charlie about James. His feelings that he was living James' life was survivor's guilt.

I love how Charlie told James and the world that he was never a second choice too.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Vince believed that the heroes were the ones who didn't come home. James was a hero; Vince didn't think he was. I can see how he believed Charlie married him because she was pregnant. But 60 years is a long time to live with the ghost of James.

It really is too long to live with that ghost. It's such a shame they didn't openly talk about it sooner. I kept thinking Charlie should realize what he believes, but she didn't
