I'm so glad I gave this series a second chance (after having it stagnate for years) as I enjoy the ensemble cast and the romances.
Robin, you and I are having the same shared reread experience on audio. I’m wondering whether the audio contributed to our stronger negative feelings about Joan’s relationship with Mike. The first time I found her mildly annoying, this time I disliked her.
Lauren, I’m so glad you decided to give the series a shot. I tell everyone who trails off after the second book to just read the third one before throwing in the towel. It seems to work!

I’m thinking the audio definitely has some influence on how Joan comes across.

Absolutely! Stan and Teri are my favorite couple so far. I loved their book and it got me interested in the other characters again.

I agree. The audio is making a difference in how Joan comes across. She seemed like a nice person except for her sometimes-condescending attitude toward Mike Muldoon.

I have to agree that the audio highlights how superficial Joan is. I question why Mike is hooked on her. She demeans him so often. Although their relationship is realistic. I've known couples where I wonder why they fought so hard for their relationship. Fortunately, it sounds like Joan is going to go forward with a better attitude.
Stan and Teri are my favorites so far too, although I do like Kelly and Tom as a very close second.
