(Unusual or Unnatural Eyes)"
Unfortunately no, but thank you :)

I added two books to the Eye Colour list from those threads just now (again, neither sound like your book, but for the sake of accuracy):
Escape from Arylon
The House of Many Rooms

Very minor spoilers ahead.
If I recall the book is set in a vaguely European fantasy world with good/light and evil/dark magicians. The male protagonist wields 'dark' magic (possibly shapeshifting or some sort of mind control) and his father is an infamous evil wizard. The protagonist is not on his dad's side. This is known from the blurb.
He is captured by the light wizards and I think basically given the choice to become a weapon against the dark or be killed/imprisoned.
The biggest detail I remember is about the characters' eyes; the author points out how every character's eyes look. Due to their magical abilities some eyes have flecks of gold or 'swirl', for example. There was one part in the book where the protagonist is looking in a mirror and comparing his eyes to everyone elses. His eyes are literally pitch black (same as his dad/dark magicians?), with a passage describing how you couldn't tell where his pupils started, and he ends up bumping his forehead against the mirror trying to see.
Another thing I remember is how surprisingly gruesome and depressing the book was. I'm pretty sure the protagonist is actually tortured at some point and really nothing good ever happened to him in the book.
Thank you!!
