Eva | 7 comments Hello! Thank you for this group. I'm excited to be here. I have a personal goal of reading 8 more books before the end of the year. As I tend to often find myself in the middle of the wonderous land called the "Public Library, " I tend to neglect the myriad of potential new worlds awaiting me on my own bookshelf. I look forward to using this challenge to help me explore what is closer to home.

Eva | 7 comments July's Completed Checkpoint:

4. Daughter of Destiny: The Authorized Biography of Kathryn Kuhlman

Kathyrn Kuhlman was a woman of strengths and weaknesses. It was fascinating to journey with the author and pin point moments in her life that defined her character, either for the positive or the negative. Those moments generated self-reflection, questions, and desire for growth within my own life.

5. Howl’s Moving Castle

What a lovely book. I truly enjoyed a glimpse into Diana Wynne Jones' imagination and her creative mind.

6. The Ashes of Eden

As a family member and I have been watching Star Trek: The Original Series DVD box sets, I decided to supplement my viewing with reading. This was a fun foray into what has been dubbed 'The Shatnerverse.' To this reader there were egotistical moments, eye roll responses to Captain Kirk's handling of his midlife crisis, and smiles reserved for old friends when introduced to members of the Enterprise. Overall a delightful adventure.

7. The Vulcan Academy Murders

Another fun forey into the Star Trek 'verse. I appreciated the author's expansion and explanation of Vulcan culture within her story. While not the most difficult of mysteries to solve, this book captured your attention until the end.

8. All Creatures Great and Small: The Warm and Joyful Memoirs of the World's Most Beloved Animal Doctor

This was a delightful journey. Some books you absorb slowly and savor while others you cannot put down. This book was both. A wonderful book to finish 2022.
