Science Fiction & Fantasy Award Winning Book Group discussion

This month we're reading Song of Time by Ian R. MacLeod. Ian MacLeod is an under-appreciated SF author, I think. I hear his name from a lot of people whose opinions I respect, but he isn't a celeb in the field or anything. So it's nice to see that he won the Arthur C Clarke award for this novel.

Roughly 100 pages in and I'm having flashbacks to My Real Children and yes I'm using that term deliberately. The writing and the structure of the story seem very similar.

A smooth read but nothing so far that really interests me.

I haven't started yet, but will let you know how I find it.

Almost finished. There's nothing here for me. A dying woman telling her life story to a stranger (maybe something more). The world is going up in flames in the background of her story. Meh. I'm not saying it's bad but I am definitely not the target audience. I'll be happy to move on.

To be honest, I'm finding it quite hard to get into. I keep reading a few pages and then getting distracted. It's not very gripping. I will persevere.

So, did you ever finish it? Hahahaha!
