Through the investigation, Sebastian met and interacted with most of the people in her world at the time of her death. Did you feel you gained a good sense of who she was through their characterizations or is she still an enigma?

She is still a bit of an enigma even though we do learn a lot about her. There are still a lot of questions.

I actually felt like I knew this woman through her closest friends, those that turned out to have true affection for her. For example, her love of gardens, particularly roses, and her politics. And, she was really loyal to those she cared about. I also liked that she was able to put Sebastian’s needs first when she decided to leave him with Hendon. I had thought it was more selfish than it turned out to be.

Yes, I would have preferred to have learned them from her. This way, I ended up liking the woman she was.

Well, at least, more than a modicum.

We got to know her through the eyes of those around her. I was struck by how she cared for and employed the disabled veterans. She cared a great deal for the people around her. Like Jonetta, I liked her too.

I'm still not sure about her. Granted she did leave with Sebastian's best interests at heart. However, she knew he was looking for her and never reached out to him. That also tells a lot about her.

Good point, Sharon. She stayed in contact with Hendon, and she most likely knew Sebastian knew that Hendon wasn't his father. I don't see why she wouldn't have made contact with him before.
